There are no right answers nor are there wrong answers. Please do not get into politics or discriminate against anyone. Thanks

First, what do you usually call clove when u give callouts. She/her or they/them?
Second, is it important to respect their pronounces even tho they are "just" a "video game" character
Last, do you support video games bringing in LGBTQ elements into their game?

These questions does not hint towards anything or any opinions before someone freaks out

  1. i call out agents by their name
  2. you can if you want but you shouldnt be a dick about it to others
3.there is nothing inherently wrong with it but if the lgbt element is to sexualize and pander to any crowd i think that is bad

  3. I don't mind video games having lgbtq elements in it

  1. I use the word чел/тип (which means guy) which is gender neutral anyways
  2. I personally don't think so, if I had a person tell me their pronouns, I would respect them, as for the game character, I believe it doesn't matter as much
  3. I support it if it makes sense, same for every minority. I liked CJ from GTA, I liked Lee from The Walking Dead, I liked Ellie from the Last of Us. They didn't feel forced, it wasn't overwatch's sudden ''yeah soldier 76 is gay now'', it was a part of the minority which made sense for the character

  1. I usally say any agents name instead of he/her
  2. In general yes but VAL is diff because the person playing should come first-if the person playing raze is a guy you would say he even though raze is girll
  3. Yes because it is realistic. If you take a random group of 25 ppl a couple of them are bound to be lgbtq thats just how statistic work BUT this only works if the lgbtq is not the central part of the character-like a val character who happens to be lgbtq vs a lgbtq character who happen to be in val.

i will use they, but also if this is a concern to you then it means you're shit at comming, because the correct way to comm would be to always list the agents you're comming at

ie. viper pheonix pushed up, sova back main
clove ulted from 410, run away
raze has ult and was last seen window

  1. I use character names as its a better callout anyways
  2. Not particularly. Lore for a character is not widely known. tbh this clove information is really the only lore I know and that's because its talked about on vlr.
  3. its fine even if the company is doing it for profit. That's what companies do and we should expect that from them. Also, fine because its normal

1.) I always use the agent name
2.) mmm, not really, I only find it important if someone feels represented by clove, then you should be using them. so if you are just fucking around with your friends, dont need to use them. but if you are in a random lobby with people who potentially feel represented by clove then I believe you should be using them
3.) Yes, but they should be done well, it shouldnt feel forced and their identity shouldnt be "the lgbtq character" it should be like clove who besides being nonbinary is also kinda a nerd, liking dnd. A childish character who doesnt use formal language and can be quite upfront in her voicelines. and she has the whole life and death motif

I actually did lose a game because in a 2v2 someone called 'they're in hookah', when one was in garden

So imma be using she for that reason and for the obvious reason that it's clearly a girl

'bbbut the devs said its not a girl and non-binary!!!'

Looks like a girl, sounds like a girl, voiced by a female, im using she.

and yeah guess what I also call Kayo a he instead of 'it' despite him being a robot, for the same reasons.

  1. I use they if I remember, she otherwise. Hell sometimes I'll even use he (for any agent tbh, to me it's comparable to saying 'hey guys' which is technically gendered, but people understand it to be neutral with the context)

  2. I think there's a certain extent to it. If someone doesn't use them I don't think it's worth it to try and correct them, imo it's not that deep, telling someone will result in (best case scenario) them remembering once or twice and just forgetting and going back to she. (This obviously is different for real people). Basically the people who do care will call them them and the people who don't won't.

  3. I don't support it but I'm not necessarily against it either. I'd say I'm neutral.

edit to 3., what z12 said above actually caught my eye, I wanted to add: if it's overly sexualised then I'd say I'm definitely against it, otherwise my opinion is still the same.

1 they if i remember
2 it really doesn’t matter it’s pixels on the screen and if someone calls clove she in a callout im going to assume it’s an accident/they don’t even know and move on but if you misgender an imaginary person on purpose your intentions are the same and ur still a weirdo
3 idrc i dont know why riot made the most girlypop feminine butterflies and flowers character of all time and made that one nonbinary feels like they’re doing it on purpose to start shit tbh

  1. For every agent i say "he's". Reyna, Jett, brim, clove. I comm in numbers like "last one' or "two main" or just "he's long'
  2. I try not to bring it into a space where its kinda just having fun. If you're in a ranked game, you get lost in the moment so I don't think it should be seen as disrespectful if someone doesn't

  1. it doesnt matter the agent, i'll even call a Jett he sometimes
  2. it's a fictional character, it's not that deep
  3. as a minority myself i think representation is important, so regardless of my personal opinion i would be a hypocrite if i said no to this
