I'm chatting shit to be fair; I don't really follow the scene. You have piqued my interest now tho... Anyway, my sentiment is still the same, the region is probably too small to have its own individual challenger's circuit. Rito is just moving like the money machine they always have been, not much more to it for them than that I'd assume.
"weakest region" bro paper rex has carried pacific the last 2 years gen.g won a tournament because of learning from prx in attack and defense wtfdym weakest region when australia india china and japan exist in the same region as sea and they all have their own league? this bullshit is like merging brazil and latam south but leavin latam north as their own league
There are way to many t2 leagues anyway.
But what I do t understand a bad is why isn’t Taiwan and hongkong ties to the China league?
The fact that Indonesia
They all had their own leagues is CRAZY
SEA, SA, OCE, KR, JP should be enough t2 leagues lol.
Now do the same with EU and we are finally cooking.
You can consider the loss to Bonkers to be the isolated example too though. Damwon only lost to SCARZ and Bonkers, and they beat BLEED and OGT.
Beating eventual winners, losing to 2nd place, and getting upset. Idk. Pretty sure in that tournament Damwon beat SEA's best team and SA's best team, lost to JP's best team, and also lost to OCE's best team.
You can make Indonesian and Taiwan on the same server, you have to make at least a T2 region that play online in Hong Kong (TW-PH-VN) and a server that play in Singapore, but still with 2 server, Thailand should be left alone, Indonesia and Thailand have more viewer alone have more viewer than Korea
About EU dont forgat that France without M8 got more viewer than NA
Calm tf down this is a big W
The scene is not currently sustainable, all those leagues are money holes that are bound to collapse. APAC and EMEA have wayyy too many leagues. EMEA with 2/3 leagues would be 10 times more fun, competitive and sustainable long term, hope they go that route. Every region can maintain a tier 3 league like Spain has to keep creating talent and have like a second ascension
no its not
if this happend in emea
its possible gentle mates might not have made ascension
cause your not telling me they were the best team in all of t2 EU
there was so many teams that were seen as better
but in the end gentle mates won cause they got their shit together in the longevity of the tourney
this change ruins chances for all the included regions and makes it even harder for teams to ascend
I don’t understand your point at all. M8 won, and I don’t see how they wouldn’t have been able to go on that run if they were on a league with the other regions instead of going on a run at Ascension, how is it any different?
And if they didn’t well, that’s alright someone else would have, this is not the point of the format. The point is to make a sustainable tier 2, which if it stays separate like this, it was bound to die soon anyway
Lets be honnest, some Pacific T2 league are not viable, seems only ID and TW where viable enough, (and maybe VN), it have to be a merge, but a merge that big is kinda an L? because of ping issues. It would have be smart to make 3 league based on server :
There will be less place for orgs and less jobs for players that is for sure. Tier 3 players here in Spain get payed very little (have another job quite often), and I understand why it’s not gonna be well received by that part. Have to look at it with a completely different mindset, and with this change that scene would grow a lot too
But you need to look at the bigger picture, those jobs weren’t gonna be maintained for a long time anyway. Tier 2 orgs are leaving Valorant massively because rn it just doesn’t make sense.
Look, I probably need more research on the SEA situation, maybe you can help me. But my head thinks of applying this to EMEA and thinks is great. Look at Polaris for example, they have 1 org. Half of the EMEA leagues struggle to get 1k viewers, idk about the SEA ones, but here it’s just not viable. Each year they have less viewers, less orgs and less money, they were all gonna end up dying
Bro didnt check stats https://youtu.be/MKTPU2REug8?si=kBkByNB8wXjNTIVR&t=205 here it's a timcodee with every T2 viewer data, FR got more average view than NA, TR wish is arguably one of the most fanatic T2 region got less average view than Thailand, I agree they are some region that should merge (PT, IT, MY, TW, VN,) but removing EU T2 region would make no sense at all
Lol looking at that data, it actually makes all the sense in the world. France and Turkey are the only 2 leagues in EMEA that will survive in the long term without merging. Look at Polaris buddy, they don't even have anyone who wants to organize it. Orgs leaving everywhere left and right, players not getting paid etc
So basically make a merging that will kill regions that are viable (Again FR > NA, wish basically make the league dumb to merge), for making a big region that may not be viable (If you have one UE region with no french team you just loose french audience, it's as easy than this). DASH is okay, they even expanding the league to 10 and having almost a full roster of organisation, ES being that low make absolutely no sense, it's a region with a strong identity and they have the potential to be higher (Especially if Riot guarantee they are at least one PT and one IT teams), and then you have EUE and EUN that struggle but may rise because of lot of effort of Bodork, and the amazing diversity of eastern region.
Also, they will obviously have no merge between Europe and LNA/GCCI for ping and identity region, so the region that need the most will stay all alone, it would make things even more unbalanced if we have a massive T2 league that compete against small T2 league, best format, is format where every league have roughly the same level, and thats possible with the actual boundary of T2
I don't think you're aware of how bad the situation is in tier 2 at all. When I say the regions won't survive I mean they will all end up very similar to Polaris other than France/Turkey maybe someone else. Look at LOL man, there are barely 2 successful leagues and even Superliga is crashing rn. It's absolutely delusional to think any of those leagues are gonna thrive
And I'm not killing any region at all, #113 and #117 is what I mean, give 3/4 spots to Spain France Italy and Portugal. This won't be killing any scene at all, completely opposite. Tell me French fans won't be more excited to watch Mandatory or Joblife play Barça or UCAM than they will Valiant. Specially when I come out and tell them all French teams are shit and that we own them and get them triggered, wayyyyy more fun, entertaining, competitive and sustainable long term.
Start a tier 3 league like Liga Radiante to develop more talent if that's what worries you. https://www.vlr.gg/event/2081/circuito-tormenta-liga-radiante-2024-split-2
Can even have a tier 3 to tier 2 ascension
That will push french team to be more competitive, and that would push French team to have a lot of important making French even more unappealed and may kill T2 hype in France, look at EMEA T2 region, almost all of them are viable :
Start with EU :
For other part of EMEA out of EU :
To conclude situation between SEA and EMEA isnt the same, they are really few org in SEA, (but enough to have 3 league of 8), SEA got a lot of not viable league, with lot of orgless team, that play on the same server and with a kinda low viewership, while Europe have a majority of league full of org, wish every league have their server, and with a promising viewership, and you have only 2 not viable league that cant really merge.
Any variation of that works for me. More leagues or less idc. I'm just saying what we have currently just doesn't work
Also you know what I would do? Make a regular season with those 4 leagues, and let the playoffs be unified, top 3 of each region qualifies. And have 1 unified champion each split. We need more region clash or this shit is dead soon
I don't think people here realize just how screwed Vietnam is here
Challengers was quite literally the only pathway for teams like Fancy United and Team Flash to get into franchising and Riot decided to make that damn near impossible now
Even if Vietnam ends up being the best subregion to come out of SEA, the merger still screws them over.
In most of the other regions, good Tier 2 players who just barely missed out on the Ascension slot still had a shot of making it into Tier 1 through their region's respective franchise reps (hiroronn to ZETA, CR to DFM, Wild0reoo/NDG to TS, iZu to T1, the list goes on). Vietnam does not have this luxury; if the team can't get in through Ascension, that's it.
Can an org from another region sign someone like YESicaN into their roster? Sure, this has happened multiple times. But what results out of it is a mixed bag, and ultimately not an ideal way to grow Viet talent.
The only silver lining here is that SEA will get more Ascension slots (Ideally it should be ~4 slots for how big this region is), but this still worries me.
https://www.vlr.gg/event/1653/champions-tour-2023-americas-ascension
just imagine brazil & NA league (with the deepest talent pool) got merged and only getting 3 slots for ascension
meanwhile argentina, colombia & 1 dead region getting their own league and getting 2 slots each

Capping the International Leagues at 12 teams
you're looking like a clown out here
NPC. they just won last ascension tho? want more opportunity? are you that clueless.the slot already given from 6 respective region that already had pre existed challenger which already running for years. we just want keep the slot as it is, your the one with stupid narrative making us want more opportunity.
Bullshit. If Jake sin is really all about business he should have allocated 3 slots to japan just because they're carrying the views in apac.
Fun fact ,KR region are poor as fuck too,if they aren't , then jp wouldn't be full of kr imports. Jake Sin probably knew this is a problem and don't care or he's just clueless.
Mind telling me which org hasn't yet invested in kr ? Danawa? Or fucking sandbox gaming? Regardless, no one is watching t2 kr, faker aint playing valorant. Stop talking about kr's potential. The only potential they have is they are potentially ruining jp scene by not allowing talents to develop there.

wait till you find out that valorant is slowly dying in KR
reached all time peak 10.29% 4 months ago and it went to 5.61% now
