3 out of top 4 teams are purely Korean, and NS just missed by a beat, I wouldn’t be surprised if in some time the entire game becomes Korea dominated like League

17/20 players in pacific top 4 are korean, 24/30 when we consider top 6 only

You are actually Korean? So actual Koreans are fake flagging? No wonder so many Korean glazers with non Korean flag are present everywhere in vlr nowadays.

Ban and governor are considered Korean now? Some time ago when they were playing bad some were calling them American and fake Koreans lol

I would still consider them korean, or at the very least, of korean descent

#14

Yeah ethnically Korean for sure but American talents not Korean.

#16

I would still consider a 22/30 split a massive W for the Korean scene, so you are just arguing for the sake of arguing, not gonna lie

What? I just think ban and governor are na talents lol. What are you even arguing about?

Calling Ban Korean (Still doesn't seem like a very good idea) is understandable. He has a citizenship, He's a native speaker, spent over a year in Korean esports orgs, and understands their culture. Gov is just an American.

If the League analogy holds, KangKang = Uzi. Who will be Faker?

If he only watched the league from three years ago, he might not know enough. I remember his horror, and chinese consider him sacred, but he's not a worlds winner anyway.

#39

Bruh he is easily the most popular league pro after faker even without worlds win. And worlds doesn't alone determine how good the player was.

Though, KK won an international trophy just 4 years into international circuit structure. Can't say the same for Uzi. He had to bide his time all the way until 2018 MSI. By the time KK played as long as Uzi, he'll have a much decorated career, a bigger name in the title's history, I'm pretty sure.

This will never happen , FPS was always dominated by other regions

OWL was over 70% Korean and we've never historically cared about any fps other than that. Valo would be a second, but it still has a much smaller user pool and popularity.

  • We have Emea and Americas , Having historically lived off FPS games for years, it is more likely that a Russian team will appear and dominate the scene than a Korean team, maybe they will dominate the Pacific, but the world scene? It will never happen

Nah, it’s not about fps or genre of the game. It’s about esports schene. Korea is way way more ahead on this in terms of coaching/player management/audience/business model etc. Live off playing pro games is considered a legitimate job in Korea while in other countries it’s still a relative niche thing. Do you think Putin cares about Russian esports?

They will never dominate like LoL.

America's and Europe are good at FPS games.

That's true but we are safe, I can't stand all these Korean glazers, they are insufferable in LoL.

I think the gap isn't big enough to warrant this yet. Plus, it's very early in the season and some teams make some questionable decisions cough cough Team Secret. In English speaking orgs and players speaking a 2nd or 3rd language, I think it takes much more time to form that cohesion that you naturally have an advantage with when having a full mono-language speaking team i.e. The Korean teams. TALON and RRQ both look very good (RRQ played very close series with both GENG and NONGSHIM) and TALON is still in the running after a 'close' loss to T1 and consecutive wins.

Of course, Korea has many demons but what really sets them apart is the coaching and the teamwork and their ability to seamlessly slot new players into a system and get it working almost instantly. Trades are usually there, players generally don't overheat unless you're Dambi and of course some sick strats are cooked up. I think after Stage 1 roles around a more decisive conclusion can be made but I have faith in the SEA teams this year. On paper, most of the rosters look solid and funnily enough, I'm most worried about the stagnant PRX. GE look improved, DFM look improved, Boom look like they can do actual damage despite being the 2nd place ascension team while RRQ and TALON are genuinely impressive when things go right. ZETA, PRX and TS look liked they've regressed but I think the core rosters are more than capable of competing and something in the compositions/comms/playstyle must be altered.
