How he or you view Saudi isnt relevant for sportswashing.
Think of this as a far more fundamental thing.

Its a concept. And he talks about it.
If Germany does it, its be bad. If the USA does it, its be bad. Any country misusing sports for their political interest is bad.
Esports hasnt been largely removed from the political machine so far, with Saudi being the first big scale example of governments abusing esports to try and better their image with the youth.

We have very little reason to believe china has been using sportwashing to a comparable scale

However yes China is concerning in that regard, even if it isnt anywhere as clear, due to their governmental structure.
We dont know how much the government is involved or not (in fact theyve made a ton of laws to dissuade gaming as a whole, so the whole thing becomes more and more muddied)

But yes 100% valid to be worried about them when it comes to sportswashing too^^
If they start trying to actively use it to better their image globally then it needs to be called out right away, and being cautious (due to their success in some of the biggest titles) is good.

They have blocked the falcons from buying into the LEC.

I think I heard a rumor that they got denied from LEC because they refused to say outright who was pushing money into the org through all the shell companies and other smokescreens.
