I know many people aren't too fond of this idea but I feel like this would be a good thing. Yesterday I had SIX games dodged in a row. Now I don't know if those dodges were because of agent roles but I know they all happened after me or someone on my team locked in duelist. I feel like a role queue would make ranked experience a lot better even though it might take longer to get into a game. You would have proper team comps, more team coordination, people would know how to play their roles, and a lot of other things at the cost of a little longer wait time which I am fine with. What do you guys think?

My bad guys didn't know role queue was such a hated idea :/

Why you so agressive? And he has a point, here in Brazil 99% of the community play duelist, so if you pick their Jett or Raze or Reyna = Insta dodge or troll.

A roll queue would take a longer time, but would make peoples stop dodging and trolling, less beff too.

Also, a 2 maps bans would be great, 11 maps is too much.

Who the fuck decides how many of which role on which map at which rank can be chosen and when it should be changed according to meta? Tac shooter "roles" just aren't like that.

All agent role, two roles, if you want to change, change the two roles.

Ofc in certain maps some agents are necessary, like Raze on lotus, but there is the problem, everyone wants the Raze on lotus (Or jett insta pick).

Choose the two roles you want, and play with that, let some braindead pick the Raze and play with the Viper.

Dude, no. That's the thing. Why would you force Raze on Lotus every game instead of experimenting? If people wanna try triple sentinel on Icebox or triple duelist on Split or whatever who cares? That's exactly part of the fun.

As someone who watched my former favourite game (overwatch) get ripped of all player originality and creativity because of the introduction of role queue.

i wasn't an active Overwatch player before role q was established, but i ultimately think for overwatch it made the most sense to create role q. anytime someone would complain about OW1 it was always either about Brig release, GOATS (because of Brig release), or double shield post-role q

did it strip a lot of player creativity? for sure. did it make the game more boring over time? probably. did it allow the devs a better structure to balance the game with (even if they can't balance shit even today)? yes. god forbid they try to balance the game NOW without role lock. release mauga was impossible to play against and imagining him in GOATS would've made me want to die

for valorant though, i agree. the role q argument is even more stupid and pointless. no role/character/comp is so unbelievably broken that we need to restrict the amount of people queuing for that role. sure, we've had some absolutely busted characters (beta raze, release jett, release chamber, post-gigabuff iso) but none of those justify role-lock.

like i said in a different comment. blizzard introduced role queue as a cop-out because they had no idea how to balance the game and/or kill the GOATS meta. overwatch at that time was so unbalanced and they had no idea what to do with it. meanwhile valorant is (compared to alot of other games) quite balanced. sure there are definitely metas and weaker/stronger agents, but i genuinely believe that you can make any agent work on any map with any composition

i will still never understand OW's move to 5v5. "the game was too chaotic and hard to keep track of" BUT THATS WHAT MADE THE GAME FUN. it was chaotic and fun

Role Queue was actually good for Overwatch, OWL got boring because everybody but like 3 teams played GOATS every game, and comp got boring because if your team didn't play GOATS and the enemy did you would usually lose. Everything else they tried to do didn't fix the problem of GOATS, role queue. Sure it got rid of some of the silly comps people could do, but I'll take that over seeing GOATS every fucking game for over a year

Role queue is a decent idea in theory, but it just wouldn't work for VALORANT. Duelist queue would be infinite, and every other queue would be two seconds. And what if people like me like to fill, or at least play different roles for different maps? What if you queue sentinel wanting to play Killjoy and then queue Breeze or something? It's just not a good idea for VALORANT whatsoever

1 being the mainly, other being the second.

Like, 2 main duelist is okay.

3 main duelist no

2 main duelist and 2 second role dueslit is no.

2 main duelist and 1 second duelist is okay.

So you mean, people that only want to play duelist will be penalised for it, and people that dont play duelist wouldnt be rewarded for it ?

I see that as an absolute win.

(Also if you are afraid of queue time, you shall force them to pick another role once every 5 games, some kind of forced autofill)

The concept of role queue is cancer. I still remember Dota 2 role queue where every one was "carry" and not even a guy was queueing as a support and the queue times were atrocious, and when I was playing support, my carries were ASS. The same happens when I play valo, my "carries", aka duelists usually bottom frag in every game mode, so no thank you. If I want to play smokes/sentinel all my life for usually bottom fraggers, no thank you.

My biggest issue with role queue is that for me specifically I'm still gonna get dodged like 8 times.

If there was for example a role queue like this:

Main Duelist
Secondary Duelist
Initiator
Controller
Sentinel

and I go main duelist and lock in Yoru, literally nobody is going to trust me to entry every round--even though getting first bloods on site with yoru is my specialty. I get that more pro teams have shown that Yoru is a movement duelist, but ranked players still expect me to play Yoru like 2023 Ethan or Tenz on Bind. Half the time, even if they don't say anything, our team's wannabe IGL will make random comments like "'let''s default since we don't really have an entry" which always pisses me off

There's still so many people that don't understand his kit and can't fathom how you could possibly use his util to entry, which usually makes them think I'm an idiot or trolling until I prove them otherwise

tl;dr it doesn't really help players with niche playstyles and agent picks

how do you define "proper" team comps when there is no really such thing. perfectly viable comps with 2 initiator, 2 sentinel, 2 controller, etc wouldn't be able to be coded into the game the way you think to the point where you just shouldn't have role queue at all.

comps aren't even that important in ranked anyways the better team/players will win regardless

I think rolequeue is a good thing, few patch ago we were really close from an equivalent of Goats meta (No duelists, 2 ini, 2 smokes and sometimes even 3 smokes), at some point it will become a necessity as it was on OW, and as it was on LoL. But the actual game may have issue to work with 4 roles and 5 players, it may require to rework the role categories and/or just class some agent into 2 categories.

Also some people may be bored about having to fill smoke every single games, so it's another good reason to make a rolequeue.

Here is gonna be an unpopular opinion : Sentinels are bad for the game, Sage, DL and Chamber are even not real sentinels, and KJ and Cyph are horrible to play against and not really popular to play, I'm not even sure they can create a real sentinel anymore, last one was in season 1 (we will see if the next agent that will probably be a sent will change somethin). The game is basically planned for having 5 people that cover plus a bot, so reworking Sentinel into senitnels may mean the lack of bot, force us to go to 6v6, so after reworking Sage into a secondary smoker (Her wall is basically used as a supra smoke on icebox after all), give DL active vision (It would synergize a lot with her ult), Turn Chamber into a Real duelist, and probably rework KJ and Cypher into reveal

If you go 6v6 and put sentinels into other categories, then you can make a 2-2-2, if they are too many duelists, they you can force them to pick another of 2 roles once every 4/5 games, soloqueue will be healthier, and proplay will feature 2 duelist that may be more fun to watch, and allow more possibility since the site with sent is the site that nobody want to avoid.

You gonna say OW2 went to 5v5, but lets be honest it's a complete failure and may even be reverse, the 2-2-2 create some complicity between the people that share a role, and amazing interrations

I'm fully allowed to debate about this that is obviously hard to hear
