This team looks to have LOTS of synergy and actually has some pretty good fundamental and ideas. Looking at the lower bracket they could have, if they keep up the same form they did today, they could make a somewhat decent underdog run. I say anything Lower Round 3 and beyond and its a big upset

the only team i would call a "superteam" or at least the closest thing we have is 2023 Fnatic.

  • 1st Lock//In
  • 2nd EMEA 2023 (we all agree Liquid winning was a fluke of the century)
  • 1st in Masters Tokyo
  • 4th in Champs LA
  • Lost 3 series' the entire year (once to liquid, twice to loud)
  • Still the only team to ever win back to back international
the only thing REALLY holding them back from being an undoubted superteam was their slightly lackluster champs run but 4th is still pretty respectable in that regard

damn yall really dont believe in VIT. good cause i dont either

posted 2 weeks ago

Which super team going into 2025 vct has the biggest chance to flop. Example: 2024 NRG, 2023 Sentinels

posted 2 weeks ago

ive heard good things about them, tbf tho i dont keep up emea as much cause their games are at 3am for me and i already put too much effort into pacific and china mostly, with the remainder of my time going to americas

posted 2 weeks ago

i was considering them but i dont necessarily think they are being underestimated. i think they were slightly forgotten about in terms of being good cause they didnt qual for champs but when people look at the team, i think they know that at the very least they will be a solid team domestically

posted 2 weeks ago

Americas: C9 (i hate the org, but we all know the storyline. they make shitty decisions in the off season, everyone writes them off, then they just dominate domestically right until the final hurdle where they just crumble. the question is whether they can FINALLY qualify for an international this time.)
CN: Nova (started to look pretty decent at the end of last year, have only looked better in the off season, swerl is the most underrated player in the entire CN scene rn)
EMEA: KOI (i dont think they will qualify for an international, but this team has the potential to punch above its weight domestically, could see them qualify for playoffs once or twice)
Pacific: DFM (underrated? not sure, seems to be alot of hype around this roster but whatever. they kept what made the roster good cough cough meiy and then they added some pretty good supporting players around him. could be the year where japanese valorant becomes more than just zeta)

flor is a female.

posted 2 months ago

Regardless of if they make it decently far in T2 after GC this time around, I do think that all the players have decently bright futures.

  • mel may continue to play the game at a pro level if she decides to, but if not she has a very good potential in casting and analysis that she has demonstrated for the main vct stream
  • i would not be suprised if flor becomes the first GC player to make it to the VCT, i genuinely think that any English speaking team thats in need of a duelist and doesnt want her is stupid, it kinda just sucks how the gc champs inteferes with alot of vct team trials (i think an issue thats worth talking about afterwards and when the tourney is over)
  • sarah, noia, and alexis are all still solid players and if rebellion for whatever reasons decides to pull out, there is surely another team waiting to yank them up easily
posted 2 months ago

i mean i kinda left it up to people to decide how they would want to rank it. i thought most people would be like who was better at their own time. so like of course modern day geng or heretics would destroy 2021 gambit. but its hard to deny that at the time gambit was WAY ahead of alot of the competition compared to heretics and geng modern day

geng, drx and boom are only based on the pieces that exist now, take it with a pinch of salt
no GE as they have 0 players

S: GENG, T1
A: Secret, PRX
B: Talon, RRQ, Zeta, Sin Prisa
C: DFM, DRX
D: Boom

dont forget boom have home crowd advantage. indonesian fans are absolutely crazy

posted 3 months ago

Revenant are my underdog for this tournament. They have the storyline, they have the breakout player potential, the only thing they don't have is a good bracket, but I have them beating sin prisa anyways lol

posted 3 months ago

I have rev beating sin prisa in the opening match, for no other reason than i think its just a really funny possible upset

dw oce is used to being underestimated :)

we never forget bonkers

posted 3 months ago

alot of the jft copium for me is kinda gone though since they dont have broken iso to use anymore. still will cheer for them but i dont think they are going to make it super far, however they do have a good looking bracket

geng and fnatic are the closest we ever got

gen:

  • win kickoff
  • second masters 1
  • win split 1
  • win masters 2
  • win split 2
  • group stage champs

fnatic:

  • win lock-in
  • second regional finals
  • win masters
  • 4th champs
posted 3 months ago

anything is a mickey mouse tournament if you dont win apparently

posted 3 months ago

do you think it would be possible we ever see one?

win:

  • kickoff
  • masters 1
  • split 1
  • masters 2
  • split 2
  • champs

Yes. And these teams aren't helping the sustainability. MIBR isnt doing shit with the funding that VCT is giving them (I heard they were using it in other esports instead) and GE isn't well liked by the Indian fans because they are both failing as a team and not fielding an Indian roster.

just because a tournament is unpredictable doesnt make it S tier. just because i say its not S tier doesn't mean I think its shit though. I think Champs 24 probably places around the B tier for me. Like its a good tournament and i've enjoyed my time watching it, but in the grand scheme of things i have to think "will people remember this tournament for years to come and was it that significant"... no?

posted 4 months ago

2024 champs is DEFINIATELY not S tier. that is recent bias.

For me its pansy and hypoc for pure gameplay commentary value, or sideshow and brenan for entertainment value whilst still being able to deliver high quality gameplay analysis

a. Most capsule are around 30usd a pop (correct me if im wrong i dont remember VP prices well), whilst you can get sticker capsules on sales for about 30 cents a pop. its alot more easier to buy a sticker capsule, than to make a commitment to buying a vct capsule
b. There is alot more incentive to get a capsule because it is gambling. dont get the sticker you want on the first try, oh well just buy another one, its cheap anyways. vct capsules you buy once and you get what you want
c. Most people will really only get one vct capsule at most to support their favourite, meanwhile there is an entire segment of the community in cs who just collect items and stickers, so of course they are gonna whale and try to get all the shiny holos and gold stickers for each team

posted 4 months ago

teams seeded 5 - 12 (aka teams that didnt make champs) will play the first round of upper bracket and the winners of those will face seeds 1 - 4 (champs teams). so essentially all the orgs that qualed for champs this year get a bye in kickoff next year

like i said in a different comment. blizzard introduced role queue as a cop-out because they had no idea how to balance the game and/or kill the GOATS meta. overwatch at that time was so unbalanced and they had no idea what to do with it. meanwhile valorant is (compared to alot of other games) quite balanced. sure there are definitely metas and weaker/stronger agents, but i genuinely believe that you can make any agent work on any map with any composition

i will still never understand OW's move to 5v5. "the game was too chaotic and hard to keep track of" BUT THATS WHAT MADE THE GAME FUN. it was chaotic and fun

posted 4 months ago

FPX vs TH both Shanghai and Seoul

posted 4 months ago

Role queue I believe 99% of the time, is for developers to use as a cop-out when they have to admit that without it, they can't balance their game

posted 4 months ago

As someone who watched my former favourite game (overwatch) get ripped of all player originality and creativity because of the introduction of role queue.

kindly... fuck off

role queue doesn't fix shit

W team, but its C9... they'll find some way to fuck it up

I think that's just an unfortunate characteristic of the americas and emea region. Although its gotten better, there is still a slight stubbornness to make changes and take risks (god dammit they still consider deadlock a gimmick). Meanwhile CN and Pacific are regions built around taking risks and trying new things, so they tend to adapt to changes alot faster and better.

posted 4 months ago

I still feel like GENG is one of the best rosters in the world rn. It was just an unfortunate loss in the groups that ended their year. There is no reason why they shouldn't give this roster another try. After all, they won Shanghai. Also ngl I didn't think they would win Champs, they just take some really weird uncharacteristic losses.

TS at the end of Split 2 started to look REALLY good and if they work out the kinks and really refine their team, this could be a team with potential gold next year. I still think they should've won over Talon for the fourth slot in Pacific.

posted 4 months ago

Going into next year, I personally believe this is what each team has to do going into next year.

Keep the roster: GENG, DRX, Secret
Keep the roster but maybe change something up: Talon, RRQ, PRX
A couple players in and out: T1,
Lots of changes needed: DFM, ZETA
Blow up the roster: GE, BLEED

You can't simply underestimate a Chinese team because there are from the Chinese region as a whole. Although I do still think out of all four regions they are as a whole still the weakest, it's not by the massive margin that everyone makes it out to be. The way these guys are being treated like royalty in China, the budget that they get for staging and lan matches like their Stage 2 finals, this is a region that REALLY wants to win. You can't simply count out a team anymore at an international event because they are from VCT CN.
