Lol shit, I actually took a short class and memorized the hiragana and katakana, the rest I just learned it through osmosis by watching vtubers 😅.

The latter, definitely not recommending it lol, because eventually you will have to translate it and sometimes you will get the whole meaning wrong, not to mention it is incredibly slow and sometimes leads to nothing.
As if recent I'm starting to lean on the former tho as I'm trying to pick up japanese as my 4th language
