Jawn asked to me about my nickname, i told him a shorter lore but, i wondered, why other peoples games nicknames?
And how is their history.
So i made this post just to hear how and why you created your game nickname. Was random? Has lore? Let me know.

when i first got discord my username was "Balls", and when i downloaded overwatch i added "amole" as "Balls" was taken. I just later added an "e" to the end of my name because i wanted my username to sound kind of like guacamole and people were pronouncing it like Balls-a-mole. The "e" at the end was just to clarify how it's supposed to be pronounced.
So to be fair, i will start firsr.
In 2022 i played a lot of DayZ, in one of the servers, was a faction thing with most players being Russians and Americans.
I allways was super chill, so i was friend of both factions, being like the half term of both teams.
They wanted to give me a surname, cause my nickname was too "ugly".
I decided to use a greek name, Prasinos (Means green), to refer to the Brazilian flag.
The server closed, but even after 1y, they still called me Prasinos, and they talked to other dudes about me, using the Prasinos name.
So, how stranger peoples (even in roblox 💀) called me by Prasinos, i taked the name.
I actually have that same interest like you when I was around 11 years old I had my first encyclopedia on about paleontology. My favorite major group of dinosaurs are pterosaurs and secondly sauropods. My favorite period of dinosaur era is triassic period. If you really want to study paleontology, then go for it brother 😉
I use "Shadow" every time and since it's very common, I use some variations like MrShadow, and few others.
The origin is ofcourse the mobile game, Shadow Fight 2. I was on a tech forum with my irl name and got banned. so wanted to have another name to create a different account. and wanted to have a cool avatar as well. so thought the shadow fight character image with the name Shadow would be cool so I started to use it. So kept it for gaming as well.
i was having fun at the waterslide when suddenly i noticed a big shadow covering the entire pool i looked up and there i saw him, Ardiis. He was coming straight for me, he jumped into the pool and the velocity of the wave that followed knocked me unconcious.
When i woke up i was chained in a cold and dirty room and there he was, streaming the popular shooter game VALORANT on Twitch while talking to his chat, somehow he managed to say the word "bro" 254 times in just 3 sentences how is that even possible?? I quickly realised that the chains were actually made of chocolate, confused (and mainly hungry) i started licking and sucking them as fast as i could and managed to crawl out of the room -that i presumed was probably his mothers basement- while remaining unseen.
I searched around the house for an exit and i quickly found the front door. As soon as i exited the building i saw a horde of angry Brazilians holding blowtorches and pitchforks chanting at ardiis and calling him a racist and a loser. I didn't really care so i tried to get out of the scene as soon as possible but just as i was about to step out of the house, ardiis put his enormous hand on my shoulder and whispered with a soft and melodic tone in my ear "You're not going anywhere pumpkin pie" and "Daddy's gonna take care of this swifly". He stepped out of the house and suddenly yelled "WATCH THIS" as he flamboyantly dashed into the air and suddenly made 5 knives materialise around him. He used the knives to effortlessly tap every single brazilian in the area.
I was so afraid, blood was spilled everywhere. When it all was over ardiis looked in my direction and i knew that it was over, if they didnt stand a chance, then i wouldnt either, so i just gave up. Ardiis started walkingin my direction each step making the ground shake. When he got to me he just sat down on me saying that i got cold and he needed to warm me up. After a while he took me inside the smelly basement again and took his clothes off. He started smelling me and licking my ear, and then he suddenly got very embarrased and told me i can just leave.
Turns out that this was a huge misunderstanding, this whole time he thought that i was a chocolate egg and he wanted to eat me. The disappointment on his face when he realized the mistake he had done was palpable, a tangible testament to the depth of his sorrow.
It derivates from the name Mitya.
My real name is Dima. The both names are close in Russian culture. All my close friends calls me - Mitya.
One of my friends was joking over my name and called me "Miting" [Meeteeng]. It's literally meaning "a rally" in Russian. So it was a joke over me.
When I needed a nickname longer than Mity/Mitys, I started to use Miting in 2007, I guess
I was originally using aXXent as my name before I switched to VALORANT. I was playing with three friends and they said they wanted to match names, each of them being a certain kind of berry—blackberry, blueberry, and raspberry, in that order. Strawberry was banned apparently, so I had to look up different kinds of berries because I honestly didn't know what other berries there were off the top of my head. I was thinking cranberry but I ended up at cloudberry because I liked the name, the rarity, and the colour of the berry.
This was originally meant to be a temporary name, but it ended up being my main one. Even after all three friends switched off, I kept my name because I'd grown quite fond of it. I've been using cloudberry as my main alias for two years now, with aXXent still in use on Steam and Epic Games.
I've never been a fan of those names, either. "cloudberry" might actually be on the opposite end of the spectrum, though, because I've been told it sounds cute/feminine, which I personally don't see but I get why people would.
Also, side note, turns out cloudberries are delicious, especially in a jam. Definitely recommend trying them.

I used to play a lot of Black Desert Online and I named my sorceress character Nachtel bc "Nacht" - Night, and I just added the el to make it sound like a name.
So I just took her name for myself because I liked it and it was unique (it's never taken)

I've never been a book guy, and I never heard of J R R Tolkien before (I knew some of his work, but never knew his name)
But I'm a really big fan of Epic Rap Battles of History, and I crossed upon the "J. R. R. Tolkien vs George R. R. Martin" rap battle. This video piqued my interest, so I decided to google some of J R R Tolkien's work
I opened a tab that showed all of his work, and one of them was "The Hobbit"
Didn't really care that much when I saw it, but when I decided to create a Blizzard account to play some Overwatch and it asked me to select a username, I thought that naming my account "Hobbit" would be funny, and it's been my username ever since
I'm also a casual CS viewer, and one of my favorites players from the scene is HObbit
i really loved technoblade and my old name was kinda avrage yt channel name so
around that time minecraft 1.16 nether update came out and new pig type mob was in update, piglin and piglin brute
and technoblade is pig so i took brute from piglin and put axe instad of blade and became BruteAxe

so mine's just to do with my medical condition.
I'm a type 1 diabetic so I wanted to build something around that. As I tend to deal with blood a lot as part of the condition I wanted to integrate that. Had a friend suggest the name "ZhuWill" in which "Zhu" has a Chinese definition of "blood red" and "will" as part of my name(not my actual name).
It's nothing crazy but it's better than my old one which was my xbox360 generated name "AwfulRat" lol
