I'm a omen main and recently added kj to my pool, I have a friend who is cypher main, but when i play solo, I sometimes had to play sentinel, so decided to try killjoy and it goes really well
Currently full controller duty
Occasionally Sova/Breach
I dont like duelist/sentinel because my aim is not very good and those two roles are more aim heavy.
I like playing tactically, and helping my team. Initiator does just that
Controller is just perfect for me. I love taking control over anything. I also IGL in ranked so it suits best for me.
Canuling16 [#5]I play mostly Omen and Harbor with the occasional KJ. No one plays smokes so I always had to fill.
On my side its not even a filling issue. I insist on playing controller. Most of the times the controllers i get in ranked play like they have severe mental damage or a brain aneurysm so why not take matters into your own hands.
doulupa [#25]Is it weird to not have like a dedicated main? I have agents I prefer, but I wouldn't say I have a main. I flex in ranked, so I'll play whatever we need and I am comfortable on every agent.
comfortable <> good
I used to main sage when I started the game 2 years ago. Then I mained raze for a bit before maining kj and cypher. When fade came out I switched to her full time, then I learned skye and (Very painfully) learned how to play kayo. Up to this point, it was around when pearl came out. I realised I needed to learn smokes for maps like pearl and icebox and also breeze. So I learned how to play viper on all three maps. Then breeze and icebox got taken out but then I learned omen on ascent and haven, which was the best choice in terms of learning agents that I ever made. Then last act I learned astra split and astra pearl. I also started maining brim on fracture for a couple of acts but now i switched it up a bit.
Currently my agent pool is:
Ascent: omen, kj, fade(rarely)
Split: astra, kj, kayo
Haven: omen, kj, skye
Bind: skye, fade, cypher, kj
Fracture(gone now): cypher, fade, skye
Pearl: astra, viper(Very rare now), skye
Lotus: omen, skye, cypher
Breeze(in the future): maybe learn harbour, relearn viper, maybe play some kayo too.
Sunset: looking like a viper or skye map for me

This is painfully true... most controllers at least in my elo (high asc, low imt) play like they're mentally impaired or some shit. Once in a while I get a player who is clearly a controller main and the difference is astounding. The smokes are always there when you need them, you don't have to constantly ask because they have a fucking minimap, etc, etc, etc...
spookmeister [#21]I have the curse of knowing how to play everyone so I’m forced to fill every match
I don’t have the privilege of having a main
Just like me fr

iCantThinkOfANam3 [#38]I used to play Sage since I played medic on TF2
But I mainly play Brimstone since His abilities remind me of CS smokes/mollies
beta! beta!
CoCloudy [#47]I main sage and pretend to be a cutie patootie egirl and then when i get invited to join parties I show em my real voice and watch the reactions

its the only way I know how to say hello now
Gummybears [#59]ascent - jett, fade
haven jett, fade
split jett,raze,skye
lotus jett, reyna, chamber
bind raze, reyna, skye, chamber
breeze jett, reyna, chamber
🤓
finnwithtwons [#52]we found the one guy that plays kayo on split
No but kayo split is actually really good. So many good knife lineups on both attack and defense.
realcavemanshit [#14]was a Cypher main, no one ever wants to play smokes so I started playing and am mostly an Astra main now. I'll play other controllers depending on the map, and will initi if i absolutely have to
same here bruh, got so used to filling smokes that my controllers are better than my cypher (my ori main)
Main controllers. I prefer omen but will play anything that’s better to the comp. Started off as phoenix main coming from playing entry in cs during val beta as he was most cs like and all pro teams played him, realized controllers on my teams were always idiots so just started playing them myself
I flex all the time however, two at least in each “class” I’m very comfortable on.
Initiator: skye, kayo, breach, gekko
Sentinel: sage, chamber, kj, deadlock
Duelist: jett, phoenix
My “pick order” is controller => initiator => sentinel => duelist
in order of skill on the map
ascent - kayo sova omen jett
bind - skye jett raze brim
breeze - chamber kayo sova harbor
fracture - phoenix jett chamber raze(bring back fracture i miss free op kills a main)
haven - omen kayo jett
icebox - dodge(fade jett sova if i have to)
lotus - phoenix jett raze
pearl - jett kayo
split - skye raze jett
sunset - how tf do you play this map someone explain
ascent: cypher fade omen (if i have to)
bind: viper cypher raze
split: raze cypher skye omen (if im forced to)
Breeze: idk i havent played it but before i played: viper, cypher
haven (worst map btw): breach omen (if im forced to)
fracture: cypher fade viper raze
lotus: fade raze
icebox: viper
sunset: idk

Yup, most controllers dont even know what theyre doing. they do the bare minimum of smoking a choke (often times not even that)
They dont know how to play around smokes, how to utilise smokes in another way, how to use smokes to manipulate enemies etc
Its like chess. Seems easy and straightforward at first but the more you play the more you realise its deep as shit
