NRG 2 - 1 PRX
Gloves are off, I don't think PRX deserve to win this event. If a single player is what they need to become the best in their region, it just brings into question the quality of everyone else. The Pacific league has some great players, but as a fan it just feels sad that this is what we have to show for: a handicapped team, an overhyped Korean team that never really was able to make it to the top, and T1 (which was alright for a first showing, I guess).
(oh yeah gimme the downvotes mmm slather it all over me)
I don't think PRX will win too, but I disagree that it brings into question the quality of everyone else. It doesn't, Something really gave that final push with his raw aim and calls to bring PRX, with 4 cracked and amazing players to the very top of Pacific. Everyone can see that he has a great impact on the team, but questioning the other players are just rude to them.
Also I don't think DRX is overhyped. True, they never really was able to make it to the top, but you can't deny that they were consistently good - getting 5/6th in masters 2022, 3/4th in champs 2022 and lock//in, and 8-1 in Pacific group stage.Their performance was definitely disappointing going in to Pacific playoffs and then Masters, but I think it's too early to call them overhyped.
Your comment feels so pessimistic, and it really looks like Pacific is that miserable compared to the other regions in Masters - top seed not playing with full capability, the supposed stronghold of DRX bombing out like this, and T1 not getting out of group stage. But it is what it is. Who expected EG to have such a deep run just because MIBR won against 100T? Who expected EDG could knock out Loud 2-0? Heck, who expected PRX could make it to top 4 with a sub?
I will admit that I was wrong about some statements about PRX - those were more in the spur of the moment comments - but it just feels frustrating to not see something in this international event. They could have been absolutely dominant in this event, but because of those visa issues we'll never really know what they could've achieved with their new roster. But Top 4 isn't bad at all!
Plus, this event has been nothing short of shocking and full of upsets, with EDG and EG having miraculous runs, that I was really rooting for EDG to win this. They really did have a chance at sending PRX home, and it was a shame that match turned out the way it did.
As for my DRX comment, yeah I still think they're pretty overhyped. As a Pacific fan, I never really liked how casters hyped them up as Pacific's top team - that would go to Paper Rex and their 2nd place finish at Masters Copenhagen. They have been consistent, but they have been to so many events in VCT you'd expect them to get the trophy eventually. It's super frustrating that I just want to see another Pacific team on the international stage other than DRX.
But I'm not entirely pessimistic. I'll be fully supporting the Pacific teams this Champions: if PRX can get something his visa, I think they can make a good run in Champions. And with DRX out of Masters Tokyo, they'll have time to fix a lot of the player issues they've had recently. And as for the last Pacific spot? Anyone but Gen.G, please. TS, Zeta, or Talon would be pretty interesting to see.
I would say DRX deserved it more than PRX, just because PRX either go high or low, there wasn't a consistent standing - until, I would say, something came. But now that PRX has shown to be consistently be above PRX this league, I agree that they are the ones to be at the top. Yep, agree with you on the last point, Gen.G, unless they can fix themselves, kinda don't deserve the last spot. TS looked to be just improving by leaps and bounds, RRQ as well. Talon with the ex-xerxia core and really great gameplay definitely has potential too. For Zeta, they felt like the DRX in Masters, too predictable, and losing gun duels. Hopefully they too, can sort themselves out, because I think they definitely grew on everyone since last year.
still man dont try to overlook past the fact that DRX were clearly having problems entering pacific playoffs. I understand its not an excuse but esports a lot of times is about form. Look at EG and EDG right now they are in insane form! Not calling them a fluke or anything but most of their players were just going crazy and that is form! DRX form was so bad even in pacific. I think that was the result of burnout. I can agree PRX has peaked higher than DRX but you cannot deny the fact that DRX is arguably still asia most consistent team. Some how I can respect DRX for still making it out groups while going through some issues. They tried their best at least.... PRX will never be considered a fluke anymore after this run especially but you cant deny that they have insane highs and lows. You never know when their next low could happen. PRX form was so good in pacific especially d4v41 after something addition. idk I think its unfair to call DRX overhyped at this point when this masters was probably their worst showing since 2021 champions... while u can make and argument that PRX is asias most decorated team there a a few narratives against them too. They havent gotten out of groups yet. Also their runs were at masters (with byes) not champions. Either way saying overhyped korean teams is unfair considering Team Secret is the definition of overhype man.
Its not about how subbed in its about. How much time they got to prepare together , do you think you can pick 5 best players of each role and make a team out of it do you think they will. Master without any practice just bcz they got good players ,
Its not about single player carrying whole region lamo
That was in Copenhagen which first of, was THE PRIME Paper Rex. But even that aside, if you think 1 game win is enough to make comparison then that's just foolish. Also I am saying that NRG will still win, not to underestimate Something but the effect of jet lag is not a joke. I know Paper Rex are a real deal if the unfortunate circumstance didn't occurred. Heck, I even had them to win this VCT Tokyo. All I am saying that NRG are just way too strong and prepared than them at this moment. And it will shows.
at that time, it looked like copenhagen's prx was at their prime. but now with something on the team and winning pacific with so much confident, its obvious prx with something is their prime now. jet lag wasnt a thing for something even if he manages to come to japan. korea japan and singapore was only 1 hour different so there is no way jet lag is a thing
