Riot Games have revealed Masters and Champions slot allocations for the upcoming 2022 season.
Masters slots for the 2022 VCT season
Masters will showcase a different distribution of regional teams this year. EMEA and North America will receive one fewer slot each. Brazil and Latin America will each have one guaranteed team, in addition to a third BR or LATAM team which will be determined by a separate qualifier prior to each Masters. Two slots will still be awarded to SEA, but with the inclusion of South Asia and OCE. Korea and Japan will hold on to one slot each.
Champions slots for the 2022 VCT season
Champions remains mostly unchanged with the exception of APAC. The APAC Last Chance Qualifier has undergone a major rework and will now be split in two, with the APAC North LCQ featuring Korea and Japan and the APAC South LCQ featuring SEA, South Asia, and Oceania. Each LCQ will be awarded 1 slot.
Neon and Chamber also will make their competitive debut over the course of Stage 1 in the following weeks, with Chamber already live in competition, and Neon eligible after January 25th.
In addition, the 2022 VCT season will also allow the inclusion of one Game Changers Alumni on a team's starting roster to fulfill the "Regional Roster Requirement."
