I thought it was nepotism that they didn't kick Boo and keep MiniBoo (cuz IGLing is overrated and all that), but somehow even Boo is playing better with MiniBoo around.

Nah, MiniBoo is doing his AP exam equivalents between June 5 and June 21.
Thought you were talking about Keir Starmer for a second there
Not gonna lie, when you put it like this, I would love to see a tournament that could replace LOCK//IN, where region vs region matches would happen. For example, have:
Pacific:
Pacific#1
Pacific#2
Pacific#3
Americas:
Americas#1
Americas#2
Americas#3
Have Americas#1 vs Pacific#1, Americas#1 vs Pacific#2, Americas#1 vs Pacific#3, Americas#2 vs Pacific#1, Pacific#2, Pacific#3 and so on for every possible combination
And then have the tournament winner in terms of the region with best record and perhaps a team with the best record too. This could be like a month long festival of valulrant.
Pretty sure franchised players would hate this tournament due to the number of matches played, so instead maybe consider having lower tier teams with players who are more eager to prove themselves on a voluntary basis
am I just tripping or is there no way lcq final is only 12k viewers on twitch
damn, kudos to fnatic getting this much better. I thought they would eventually run out of cheese, but I was wrong. The cheese is endless
acend must have not been paying players' salaries in due time kekw
You're right, I completely ignored that riot is capturing all the markets that volvo failed to capture, while volvo is merely maintaining what it captured 2 decades ago. At least it's good to see that now Riot and Valve are competing not just in moba genre, but also FPS. In terms of moba, Riot is the obvious winner, but can it replicate the same in FPS? Interesting to see where all of this is headed in 5 years time.
I agree that it's gonna bring stable esports and other benefits like that, but for me it's just preference. I love laissez fare approach of volvo, imo bettors and gambling scams are the inevitable future of esports
If I were turkish I would be cheering for BBL to defeat FUT. This way both of the Turkish teams make it to playoffs
very good point. All this franchising shit in reality is made to gatekeep t2 teams from being an active threat to t1 teams.
In this csgo major t2 are cleaning the floor with t1 "franchised" teams. This situation is currently impossible in valorant, because t2 teams are actively being gatekept from potentially competing at the highest level.
In my opinion, global recession especially in tech sector is a pretty significant factor at play here. Valorant released and started catching exponential growth at an unfortunate time when capital borrowing for big tech companies became more difficult due to raised interest rates by the US FED. The entire big tech sector in the USA is currently cutting down on risky investments and Riot might be considering that investing significant money into organising Valorant tournaments is unlikely to yield high returns to justify high risk investment. Therefore, the production quality is nerfed in a way
Controversy
The Shanghai Major was plagued from the start with technical difficulties and both the production company and host, James "2GD" Harding, were publicly fired on the second day by Gabe Newell in a Reddit post.Despite this, the tournament continued to experience production issues and unexpected delays, as well as less than favorable conditions for the players and broadcasters.Even after the event finished, controversy persisted. The hotel rooms the teams had stayed in were cleaned out, with a total of 40-50 personal belongings being lost or misplaced, including mice, keyboards, headsets, and car keys.
There is even a wikipedia article associated with this major, which is pretty big imo
different philosophies between companies, riot doesn't like to outsource the organisation of tournaments to other companies. There is precedent for Riot doing this, as they have been doing it for the past decade with league of legends.
Valve has laissez faire approach to organising tournaments, i.e. they outsource it to other companies and they have been successfully doing it for more than two decades. This approach did bite Valve once in Dota2 major - "Update from the Shanghai Major" incident in 2016.
It seems that it does indeed come down to two different schools of thought at the executive level of these companies
tournaments organised by rito are like state owned enterprises, execution always ends up being shit
cs majors are not organised by volvo, but by privately owned enterprises, if the company does good then execution is awesome. blast have a good track record of doing that already
imo cs2 is gonna bring cs to a renaissance, while valorant continues on track to become a boring game, so no reason for cs pros to switch
eu valorant scene is gonna have to homegrow their own fresh talent
Even if VIT wins against TH, the thoughts are too intrusive for FUT to just simply 322 their game against BBL to achieve the dream. Unless I am missing context that BBL and FUT are significant rivals of each other to the extent where they are more likely to compromise each other's chances of going further into playoffs.
FUT are gonna execute a 322 manoeuvre against BBL. The thoughts are too intrusive to not do it
RED AND BLACK I DRESS EAGLE ON MY CHEST GOOD TO BE AN ALBANIAN KEEP MY HEAD UP HIGH FOR THE FLAG I DIE PROUD TO BE AN ALBANIAN
scream is just tryna go back to cs2 by actively sabotaging his value in valorant with his current kc stint
fit is what keloqz was hyped to be. fitinho is actually capable of getting kills upon entry
anybody got a replay of some team's comms malding at 12-10 score?
mods please don't intervene, the reply chains have been entertaining to read to say the least
Aren't you supposed to be shilling for LOUD
you can tell that fnatic are abusing keloqz as if he was a liability tbh
That very well could be the simplest solution that leads to the most meaningful results lmao
Would be great if they broadcast t2 games lives on VALORANT_EMEA channel on non tier 1 days too
I don't even play the game
spain bring paella, france bring wine, have a picnic at pyrenees and make up ez pz
keloqz looks like a god when enemy team has shit mental, thus snowballing on that
but when enemy team are in control of their mental, he gets exposed for the otp over aggro jett that he is
valorant teams are simply inconsistent af, one day they will look like gods, then tomorrow they will play like medium difficulty bots
with orgs shutting down due to global recession, maybe this is indeed the only way to generate enough revenue to stay afloat kek
pocket pussy pocket pussy pocket pussy pocket pussy pocket pussy
fnatic are just that good, they know how to shut down key players and make them look useless
I agree with this take, I wouldn't be surprised if rumours come out that they are already trailing a different roster as soon as the next transfer window opens
wow, I wasn't aware the roster was this dysfunctional. It appears as if management from some franchised teams did not bother to analyse how the rosters would mesh together
ageist take, but my impression is that I've been seeing the same names for the past 2 years. I think the situation is gonna sort itself out when t2 17 year olds propagate into franchised teams.
replace one brother with another brother (boo -> miniboo), easiest and most giga brain roster move, at least in terms of meme potential
really? damn, I thought he was on the roster just to IGL
Boo needs to retire into coaching (if an IGL is available), his boomer age is showing in terms of mechanical skill.
inb4 fnatic didn't pracc enough after winning lock in, did a lot of party and now giants are ready to upset
I think somebody stole his car's catalytic converter
I'm surprised to read that there is very little support from Riot to maintain the viability of tier 2, if that is indeed the case then no wonder that there is very little demand to invest in tier 2 circuit.
I like the switch towards more cartoony colors. I was sceptical about valorant having children grapfix at first, but after trying and seeing how much the visibility is better, I like that volvo has decided to take one from valulrante's page
One of my hopiums about the new engine is that it will allow developers to add cheap "sensors" in terms of computational cost to better detect outliers, i.e. exploits. Thereby leading to a new generation of VAC that would not enforce Volvo to detect exploits at kernel level.
