I’m just curious here, who actually believes a claim like this? Feels like Sentinels pulled off one of if not the greatest ad campaign for a player in esports history honestly if the majority believe something like this.
Anzaldinho [#7]he definitely was the icon of valorant though
you ask a random person who's not into valorant who do they think of when you think of valorant and they'll probably say tenz
same with csgo and s1mple and lol and faker
was
FiredSkull [#4]Not really King but icon of valorant
feels like a byproduct of SEN’s content team alone, pretty much artificially making TenZ an icon
Galactc [#6]Bro shot at people in 2020 and somehow got this famous I don't get it
the first always > the best
at least when it comes to becoming the face of whatever you’re doing

But that's what they are pointing out. Marketing campaign. TenZ doesn't even come close to what s1mple and faker have achieved.
underdog_Supporter [#12]But that's what they are pointing out. Marketing campaign. TenZ doesn't even come close to what s1mple and faker have achieved.
exactly. Damn when you point it out like that it becomes 100x more obvious.
NYANYANYANYAN [#5]He has a big dick

SAMPV6 [#14]
- First player to reach Radiant (Valorant rank)
- First case of a player hard carrying a pro-team (C9)
- Crazy clips from the get go, the first aim demon Valorant had
- Comes back from retirement to help Sentinels own NA and win their first trophy
- Remains consistent with Sen and wins one more trophy
- Still an aim demon with tons of crazy clips
- Aura
These are all pretty shit reasons besides 4 and 5?
king_bob [#13]exactly. Damn when you point it out like that it becomes 100x more obvious.
Yeah. I don't hate Tenz. Hell, I even watch his streams regularly but TenZ glazers make me so annoyed.
SAMPV6 [#18]just say you dont like him bob
I think #7 and #12 worded it best. TenZ’s accomplishments do not justify his popularity compare to other icons of other esports, and that’s thanks to SEN’s campaign team. Also I honestly can’t tell if you’re serious if you think “aura” and “first player to reach Radiant” are real justifications lol

how does a player gain notoriety if not by accomplishments, being the first player to reach the highest rank of the game gave Tenz a spotlight right from the start, it is a real valid reason why he is so popular and considered the face of valorant.
"aura" is pretty much just saying that his personality also helped him stay popular, there's been lots of content creators and players who just get forgotten. Hell, just look at Curry 🤷♂️
TheAceGamer30 [#20]how many posts have you done related to sen it’s actually weird
Around 5 I think. A lot less than you though so I don’t think you can say anything here AceGamer 13600+ posts

One of if not the greatest marketing campaign for a player in esports is one good reason as to why anyone would think TenZ is the “King of Valorant”
underdog_Supporter [#12]But that's what they are pointing out. Marketing campaign. TenZ doesn't even come close to what s1mple and faker have achieved.
that's true
shrike- [#26]it’s not really a claim, it just is
he was marketed well and that’s what he became known for to most of the val community. that’s how most people get the kind of fame he does, it’s never really something you can do just through achievements alone
yeah it’s mostly just marketing when it comes to him
underdog_Supporter [#17]Yeah. I don't hate Tenz. Hell, I even watch his streams regularly but TenZ glazers make me so annoyed.
Honestly it’s pretty weird being a viewer from a different esport and having to learn that the “King of Valorant” spent his entire career trying to justify his own title (and failing to do so)
1.Tenz is one of the most decorated valorant players in the world whose record is still unbroken today
https://liquipedia.net/valorant/TenZ ya dumbass act like he the guy never won something
2.he was the most popular valorant player in the world before he even came into contact with Sentinels
https://x.com/TenZOfficial/status/1349961859705708548
so no idea why you dumbass are now claiming that his popularity has something to do with Sentinels lol
like it or not, your favorite players will never reach what tenz has achieved even if Sentinels spent the next 100 years to promoting them

That's true it also helps if people know you more and we all know by now NA is far better at content than everyone else
jawn [#36]thinking SEN manufactured his popularity is basically just saying "i wasn't watching valorant in 2020-2021"
“wow tenz won a few of the first ever competitive matches in Valorant and even won the first masters! It makes perfect sense for him to be the face of Valorant for the next 5 years!”
king_bob [#38]“wow tenz won a few of the first ever competitive matches in Valorant and even won the first masters! It makes perfect sense for him to be the face of Valorant for the next 5 years!”
do you think the entire playerbase gathered and elected the face of valorant like we're deciding on the next fucking pope?
jawn [#40]do you think the entire playerbase gathered and elected the face of valorant like we're deciding on the next fucking pope?
no, I think most of the playerbase listened to and believed a masterclass of a player campaign led by SEN. Ask the average SEN fan whether or not TenZ has a better career than aspas, most will deny it

he was the biggest name before joining SEN

cucknz is so real
jawn [#42]he was the biggest name before joining SEN
ok? him and C9 built a brand around himself off the back of a failure of a career in CS, what’s your point? In a way, the fact that he was the biggest name before joining SEN in the first place when his CS career was a complete flop should help my claim even more.
king_bob [#10]feels like a byproduct of SEN’s content team alone, pretty much artificially making TenZ an icon
What exactly is artificial about it? He's easily by and far the most recognizable pro in the wider Valorant community (probably globally but at the very least in the west) that doesn't pay attention or even know anything about valo esports. And he's been one of the best players in the world at several times in his career and as recently as last year. That's what an icon is.
If you're thinking he needs to have been hands down the best player in the world throughout his entire career for that to be true, well, you're just wrong.

so your point is that SEN manufactured hype to make tenz the face of valorant and that is proven by the fact that C9 manufactured hype around him.
make sure to read that slowly so you understand how fucking dumb you are

C9 and TenZ built a brand around himself during his (unsuccessful) CS days that carried on into Val in 2020. TenZ’s name was big but wasn’t nearly as big as it was after he joined SEN and won the first Masters, where SEN then go on to market an already popular name extensively into becoming the face of Valorant with incredible success even when he showed no results two and a half years straight. It’s really not that hard to comprehend this information

Or he just built a name for himself through basic content creation and being good at the game… don't think that's crazy to say… this is just a baseless claim lmao what evidence do you have that C9 built a brand around him.

Yeah he’s an icon, an artificially-made one whose career does not justify his title. Aspas has not been the best player in the world for every year, but give him the icon status TenZ has and I would say it makes sense. At the very least the “KING OF VALORANT” should at least win the C in VCT once in their career.
king_bob [#41]no, I think most of the playerbase listened to and believed a masterclass of a player campaign led by SEN. Ask the average SEN fan whether or not TenZ has a better career than aspas, most will deny it

this is just confirmation bias, you think tenz is undeserving of the level of fame he has so you just assume he is some sort of industry plant and then use anachronisms to justify it
in reality, HE built his brand in CS and not only built his own brand in valorant but also was instrumental in creating the biggest female streamer in the scene and the most popular org, how could he have been pushed to popularity by an unknown org?

SEN was the best team in NA before picking up TenZ and you’re calling them unknown? stop the dick riding bro, SEN elevated his popularity and it worked in their favor to boost themselves as well. It’s not that hard to understand. You think he made himself popular back when he was playing CS? That’s cool bro, doesn’t change my point and in all honesty makes it feel like TenZ is only as big as he is due to content creation and not his competitive career because god knows his ass was doing nothing competitively in CS lol

so what's your basis for Sentinels increasing his popularity?
TenZ is only as big as he is due to content creation and not his competitive career
also nobody denies this, even though he is a massively successful val pro most of his brand comes from streaming with the addition of competitive play

youre really gonna ask me for examples on how SEN elevated his popularity? lol
also that last paragraph? doesn’t apply to Faker, doesn’t apply to s1mple, doesn’t apply to Daigo, doesn’t apply to n0tail, doesn’t apply to any other face of another game because the face of an esport should be because of their competitive play, content creation should be an extension of their success, not the other way around.

jawn [#65]well he's the face of valorant not cs, anyway im done with this argument, it's pretty obvious that you're arguing in bad faith

KING BOOOOOOB!!!!
I think your misunderstanding something here, being the face of valorant doesnt mean you'll have to be the greatest at it nor win the biggest tournament ever, personality, popularity and other things help, sen did play a big part in making tenz the face of valorant simply because they were the most popular org in NA and he was the most popular player in the world, let me take two examples (from cs cuz im a cs frog), you agreed about s1mple but he didnt win a major before 2021, you ask anyone before 2021 and after 2016 who's the face of CSGO they all say s1mple, even if he hadnt won a major yet, another example, who's the GOAT rifler, the face of rifling for csgo ? NiKo is (even if donk is making a solid case in cs2), NiKo in his now 10th year of playing at tier 1 has never won a major and he's still the face of rifling in cs, TenZ had flashy clips, was the greatest player in the world when valorant's rise started, remained an insanely popular streamer in the 2 years he was dogwater and came back to win another title before retirement, was he the best player in the world from 2020 to 2025 ? fuck no, if we want to talk about consistency aspas was, aspas is undoubtedly the most consistent player oat (alongside derke) but they arent as popular nor marketable as tenz, like i said being the face of something doesnt mean you're the best at it, i mean look at it this way, when cs2 came out and s1mple refused to play it people were talking about him more than better players than him (people talked more about s1mple who was on Na'Vi's bench than w0nderful who was way better than s1mple in the first year of cs2 cuz s1mple was ass at cs2)
