Ever since India won 1983 world cup the government only focused on cricket. That's why we are bad at almost every other sport.

yoyoyo_8382 [#2]why is india so bad at football
Our sports infrastructure here is pretty underwhelming if you ask me. Also barely anyone here actually encourages their children to make a career in Football.

still bad at cricket too lmao
KaedeTsuneta [#6]why you guys love cricket so much
Because it is the only sport where we are good at.
AstroGalaxy [#3]Why in india do women have little to no power? (serious question)
It's not like that really. Women do exercise a lot of rights here, and there's also this whole thing of "woman is innocent until proven guilty" while it's the opposite for men. It's only in the rural and strict conservative areas that women don't have power or the will to do what they want, but even that's changing. India is progressing as a society, but I hope they don't become too liberal.

Long years of history and many wars that India fought against Pakistan, has made us spew irrational hate towards them on every step we take.
It's pretty much the same situation as Greece vs Turkey and Korea vs Japan. These countries have had a terrible past against one and other.

Meyourlightmare [#38]Why Indians are not good at Valorant
Studying way more important in indian culture
Many cant afford pc and even if you have ur mom gonna make u sleep on the street if she see you playing video games
Meyourlightmare [#38]Why Indians are not good at Valorant
Reasons :
adilKhan [#40]Reasons :
- Most Indians don't have good facilities for gaming like high end setups and good Wi-Fi.
- Esports culture isn't really encouraged here, and is rather discouraged if anything.
- We Indians tend to do stuff half-heartedly, and our situation in Valorant is just like that.
- Most of us are into actual sports than professionally playing video games.
- Not a sustainable way of earning, as opposed to being an engineer, doctor, chartered accountant, or any thing for that regard.
tbf esports isnt stable at all, its good that the parents dont recommend esports as a career. sure it pays good but for 1 good player, there's like 30 other ppl fighting for it
Meyourlightmare [#38]Why Indians are not good at Valorant
The parents here give more importance to the studies than any video game. Most of them are always chill if their child is getting good marks while playing games. Ignore studies completely and u get ur ass kicked.
yoyoyo_8382 [#11]still bad at cricket too lmao
Not bad technically, but chokers.
We win enough bilateral series and smaller tournaments so that stats can be padded and no one can call it a bad team.

1- No, its quite successful as it helps in the development of a backward area by providing jobs to locals.
2- I personally am not very religious, but still people who are should enjoy it.
3- Its a lot, but our fertility rates are down to 2.0, meaning population stabilisation in the long run and we wont face demographic challenges like China would be facing.

EseemedRes1180 [#95]One more question I heard that north and south hate speaking each other's language is that true.
Majority population speaks hindi (50%+) and it is one of 2 official languages of India, the govt want to promote it in the south as well but Southern states are not in favour of the 3 language formula. Rest the animosity is generally between internet trolls.
EseemedRes1180 [#95]One more question I heard that north and south hate speaking each other's language is that true.
Well, it's not completely like that, but I do agree that some south people hate Hindi and prefer speaking their own language, mostly Tamil people, and that's cuz of a history between the south Indian states and the government of India trying to impose Hindi as the official language. Idk much about North Indians hating South Indian languages but from what I've heard, most of them are pretty chill. We're one nation, and we stand by it. The only people that want to create divides are illiterates

Infrastructure is a part. But the thing is esport is not a job here. In other countries for example athletes gymnastits start training at a young age. In our country if u have the talent that talent will be cultivated only when u reach like teenage and that itself if we r lucky. Very rarely does young talented kids are found. Being good in studies starts at a young age. It's the part of the culture now.

Most Indian football fans got into football by watching these two teams play.In Kerala it's a South Indian state. We love brazil and argentina because of football. The support for these two countries is actually wild here during wc. U can see flags of the countries everywhere during this time.
alecksdesk [#141]would u consider pujan an indian name?
during colonialization Britishers used to send indians to African nation and South American nations for what you call slavery (not exactly they used to say they will return them to indian when work is over but that never happens) mostly for growing opium but when britishers lost the grip on Indian subcontinent and India became democracy all the people who were left there in Africa ,South America remained there.
Those people generally took pride in their culture and never changed the naming style, like you can see people from South America and Africa having indian ancestors names like Sunil Narayan and by religion he could be Muslim ( keep in mind narayan is literally of the most prominent God name in hinduism)
alecksdesk [#148]so FNS is basically indian, thanks

Yep we are but our poverty rate is declining fast.
Eg- 44% poverty rate in 2005-6 vs 15% in 2019-20.
The govt has many welfare schemes to provide livelihood for the poor. Eg- A food distribution scheme fed 800 million people during the pandemic for almost free.

Most people think india has large population because of having more childerns but its atually over fertility and india biodiverse land . For example the most populated state in india (Uttar Pradesh) has two river flowing through out it ganga originated from himalyas and yamuna thats why the land is too fertile and in ancient time civilization used to be established around river banks

danii1 [#254]Why would the government of all things focus on sports
Governments all over the world are invested in all kinds of popular sports, pushing for example to host major tournaments (see Qatar football world cup for example, there was pretty much no football scene in Qatar beforehand, it was purely a government effort).
Sports can help a country with their international image ("sportswashing"), and also promote national brands which sponsor national sports teams, etc.

Almost non-existent in metros, people are friends with each other though they prefer marrying within their own caste.

Let me rephrase myself: Officially, the constitution of India was formed in 1950 after the independence in 1947. Thereafter, we were recognized as 'India' due to political manipulation with the reason being that we wanted to 'portray' ourselves as a modern and democratic nation, however the true motive behind this was to destroy the cultural roots of the country, by the likes of British servants like Nehru.
lilwho [#313]What do you think about indian in malaysia? Do you see them as equal or anything else.
I've always felt that Malaysia and India have connected roots in so many things, share cultural diversity... you can say both of them countries look like Homies to me :) . Also, I visited Malaysia earlier this year. It's very beautiful and somewhat felt like home; the people are the best and funny.

India and bharat but in our Constitution it is written as
Indian that is bharat is a union of states......

Bharat that is India is a union of states...
nmshowl [#242]Most bharatiya support the name change to Bharat because India was something that was left behind the colonialists. This does not mean we rename every word containing India.

Kai__ [#44]do most indians support changing their name to "bharat" ? and whats their reason
Bharat and India are both the same. It's language difference, In english it is called India and in Hindi it is called Bharat. Name "Bharat" is said to come from "King Bharat" who is regarded as our ancestor and India was given by Greeks derived form word 'Indus' which steams from 'Sindhu'. Both name are our pride.
Many people support it because some believes our identity and name should be based on our culture and our language and not given by foreigner in foreign language, which is fair. And some whatsapp university graduates believes India name was given by colonist and we should be called Bharat to de-colonize ourselves.
This is only around social medias. In reality, government has never proposed to change name to Bharat. They just used name Bharat in G20 summit, which is okay given both name India and Bharat are constitutionally valid. This all buzz is created only for Political purpose and trust me all people will forget anything about renaming to Bharat after 2024 elections.

ionlyHave1Zuni [#335]What is the most common stereotype people have about indians that are not true
Indians don't apply deodorant
We poop on the roads
Most of us are poor
We're all brown-skinned (India has all types of people ranging from dark skinned to fair skinned)
We're all amazing at Maths (I mean, that's kinda true, but not all of us lol)
Usually they associate our cuisine with curry
ItsOnlyAGame [#46]Not bad technically, but chokers.
We win enough bilateral series and smaller tournaments so that stats can be padded and no one can call it a bad team. But bigger tournaments? Expect fnatic level choke
sigh chokers
At least you win the bilaterals

JustEnjoying [#294]Very unnecessary reply tbh. It's just the extremists (sadly many in both countries) who hate each other. No one else gives a fuck there are too many things going on life to give a fuck about something like this
very true
Poge [#349]I dont really know anything about Taj Mahal could you please explain what the problem is with visiting it? I mean, lots of people visit places where terrible things happened to learn more about the history. I guess they don't talk about the bad stuff that happened there and try to market it as a symbol of love. Is that what you're saying? I did check out the recommendations you gave me, and they all look really cool, so thanks for those :) Gonna have to do some research myself before I go for sure though.
What I mean is Taj Mahal does not portray the true culture of India, it was built by an invader and has disgusting history around it. As an Indian, I am not proud of it and it does not represent us culturally. Sure, it is a part of the history of the country, but if you want to visit India to understand its amazing culture, the true essence lies elsewhere. And yes, they portray the king as some sort of an inspiration of love but the reality is totally different, which they never acknowledge.

Jiraiya [#92]1- No, its quite successful as it helps in the development of a backward area by providing jobs to locals.
2- I personally am not very religious, but still people who are should enjoy it.
3- Its a lot, but our fertility rates are down to 2.0, meaning population stabilisation in the long run and we wont face demographic challenges like China would be facing.
4- No, 90%+ Indian railway tracks are electrified. The pic you might have seen on the internet is from Bangladesh.
5- Its gonna be completed by 2028, the railway ministry keeps uploading the progress
