Yep we are but our poverty rate is declining fast.
Eg- 44% poverty rate in 2005-6 vs 15% in 2019-20.
The govt has many welfare schemes to provide livelihood for the poor. Eg- A food distribution scheme fed 800 million people during the pandemic for almost free.
