They are 0 3 down in series victory on international stage
Chow1E [#5]they are on new surface of valorant
give them time also
Bing Chilling
Not on new surface but less international exposure, that should not be a reason for 0 3 or 0 4 at least 1 series for a mf region who has '3 champions slot'
2 slots for fair play

yawnster [#9]Hasn't even officially released in China but aight
I guess Released last year
But if not rito gave "3 fucking champs slot to a region hasn't have valo officially released"
Jaox-101 [#10]They doesn't even care about their ingame name like hfmi0dzjcjewk enter and play the game
Don't use his name in vain
Bro has the goated name
MourninggStarr [#13]yeah but based on EDG's game against 100T, they are easily better than some franchise teams
Replace 2 3 chinese orgs with Pacific asses ?
They want to kickstart the esports scene officially as fast as possible. With three slots, it can fast forward the development of China's scene towards them becoming the fourth major region after Americas, EMEA, and Pacific.
With closed beta in full swing and a lot of domestic resources being poured into the launch soon, it's more than obvious. They're not an ass region for now.

What about Pacific + china to 2 regions
Coz some Asian countries also need recognition to develop their eSports scene

if the game picks up like league did they'll become a superregion and decimate. might take a while tho like it did in league

As in, Pacific + China as a single region? Never gonna happen under Riot, as far as I know.
they're not gonna be instantly good. China as a whole is bad at fps games because shooting people in videogames isnt something the ccp wants to give to the population. Wait a few years of valorant being out and they'll start dominating everyone like they did in league of legends, unlike eu or na (regions that have shooters like cod and csgo) china has very limited access to these. They have to build their skills from the ground up instead of just switching games.

Not as a single region
Split them into 2 parts east and west or north and south
Better than china alone a single region

Really not Riot's MO; maybe with Game Changers they can be a bit more liberal with their slotting with the East Asian GC (JP, KR, CN) and last year with the East Asian LCQ, but with the current model for the main VCT tournament, it won't work. China is too big of a region both economically and resource-wise to be grouped in the long run with other regions.
Plus, China's regulation is a bit different than the other regions.

they will do it whether or not the games released
Chill bro the game just got officially released last december. It's gonna take some time before the valo esports scene in china heats up. Before the released last year in december, they even had to physically go to Taiwan or Hong Kong in order to set up a bootcamp and play the game or use some VPN despite the ping issues.
Skorp4k [#8]at this point you are irrelevant lil bro
In order to become irrelevant you had to be relevant in the first place

1st game EDG had to sub smoggy in because life got covid, 2nd game life tried to play but still felt unwell thus unperformed, 3rd game they looked equally matched with 100T, 4th game FPX sucks can agree with that
TheMonk [#12]I guess Released last year

They're 3 years behind, needs to be some way to develop the region and let them catch up especially when Riot & League is massive in China
TheMonk [#15]Replace 2 3 chinese orgs with Pacific asses ?
Yeah I just wish val was accepted before franchise. We'd get at least 2 cn teams in Pacific and they can actually compete outside their region for once. (Though they scrim pacific teams regularly anyway)

KlobotXXL [#22]yes, yet riot doesnt care at all and give them 3 slots
Really doesn't matter whether they deserve the slots or not. The whole point of franchising was money both for the org and for the players - if you really look at it this is a very positive thing, it's a great way to speed up development of a region who's valorant is releasing 3 years after it did globally. Its making up for that gap. Also I'd say at least EDG deserves spots, they'd be the 2nd best in pacific for sure.
PunisherXPR [#35]Not ass, just not enough international exposure. EDG is probably better than Detonation FuckMe though.
I'd say they're 2nd pacific, they absolutely demolished the GenG core back in East Asia LCQ (vs ONS), but DRX is just undoubtedly better ngl
Pretty small sample size, doesn't say much. If you've watched their actual matches you'll know there's a lot more to it, their games are often VERY close. Even some 100T fans thought EDG was the better team despite losing that matchup at LockIn. And some of EDG's clutches are champions-level - they've got the potential, just need more experience and discipline.
Psion [#37]that 100t beat fnatic at champs
Didnt they lost afterwards ? And fnatic did not had leo and chronicle. Stop the copium.

That last part is arguable, EDG lost to 100T who have not been looking very strong since Sean Gares left.
I think they'd be 4th best in Pacific:

yk what "at champions" means? it means they beat the fnatic that was present at champions. LMFAO, and ofc they lost. The winner almost always loses the rematch

"Wait a few years of valorant being out and they'll start dominating everyone"
This statement is simply incorrect. Same thing was said about Chinese teams in CS 1.6 and CS:GO , and they had max 2 competitive teams (placing in top20 ranking) over 15 years (with some breaks), called wNv Gaming and Tyloo. They won 3 S-tiers events over 20 years.... combined ..... even though there was so much hype behind them
It is already proven that Chinese teams usually have a hard time in tactical first-person shooters, even when they are on the same level playing field (which was the case with CounterStrike 1.6 for a long time).
There are small chances that things will change in Valorant, since the same fundamentals are usually applied.
China should definitely open their competitive scene and get some slots, but I do tend to agree that 3 is too much. However, it is understandable since this is a Tencent owned company.. You can't blame them for forcing it a little bit.
Either way, competitive integrity is not something that Riot prioritized when creating the Partnership system... so it should not come now as a surprise

Maybe people just don't like playing CS in China? Like how BR or US is great at FPS but mid-trash at MOBAs? Tencent can probably force valorant on the market for aspiring young players, i mean if anyone could do it its them

They didn't like it.. they loved it. CS was super popular in China (especially in 1.6 days), with many large tournaments held there (such as World Cyber Games, etc)
They just happen to not be that good historically speaking in FPS games.. not sure why you compared it to MOBAs.

EDG Absolutely demolished the GenG core in East Asia LCQ? A 2-0 and a 3-0 vs ONS with scorelines that weren't even close. Its even more obvious is you watch the actual matches, it was like a radiant vs diamond team

Nivera and scream destroyed edg million years ago with a completely different system therefore Karmine corp >>>> edg. I've never seen someone as delusional as you 😭
Not at all. EDG rolled through LCQ east Asia, destroying teams like ONS who’s core is now Gen G. Gen G are currently 2nd in the pacific region so EDG are arguably better then the 2nd seed in pacific. I just think they lack discipline and dont have been set strategy’s. This can be easily fixed with proper experienced valorant coaching staff.
