Can't they move the venue to some other country?

Hosting tournaments in Thailand/Philippines or Japan would be nice, cuz it would help build the local fanbase interest towards Valorant and bring in new viewers.
Feel like Korea hosted Pacific for enough tike already

Also it'd make some teams more competitive I guess? Because they'll have home advantage(?)

i rlly didnt like when they signed a exclusive contract with a KOREAN streaming service which nobody has ever heard of and expected the rest of pacific to deal with it

we lost disguised for that

i agree with this take, despite Korea having great infrastructure

kind of devious but I also just want to see the apparent "home-field advantage" pan out to see how true the cope is

do they have an agreement to keep hosting Pacific tournaments only in Korea?

I'm out of the loop on that topic

idk but even the arena is SOOP stadium
may be riot can save cost if they hold event here

Riot have the infrastructure already built up in Seoul,
orgs have also committed resources for facilities.

I think it's more likely you would see riot host "road shows", like the one they are doing this year in Tokyo.

That’d be a big step which I don’t see happening but at least they’re doing the roadshows now (Stage 2 playoffs will be partly in Japan)

I think only Stage 2 Playoffs will be held in Japan?

So Japanese teams most likely won't even get to play on their home stage

It's unfair to blame riot for that. You have made good arguments so far about the korea focused league but it isn't riot's fault that the Japanese teams aren't good enough

yeah i'm not saying it's Riot's fault

Japanese teams just suck unfortunately

The answer to this question lies in the League of Legend match. Is there any infrastructure to play offline in other Asian regions except LCK? From the standpoint of RIOT, there won't be a new infrastructure just for VALLORANT yet

I think it'd be nice to start from hosting like one full Split in Philippines/Japan

surely the facilities and infrastructure for one Split wouldn't be that expensive for Riot

Host in countries that have natural disaster risk (earthquake, volcano, tsunami) are terrible
Also for long-term infrastructure, Korea take the W

#15

the infrastructure part is fair but i think Riot can afford to host like at least one Split in some other Pacific country

i didn't think about the natural disaster part tho but will it be that big of an issue?

Singapore is safe, center of apac and is extremely convenient for everyone. Its expensive but so is Seoul and Tokyo. Idk why they didn't pick SG.

"Long term and always ready to use" infrasctructure, not just for 1 event like Master/Champion

No idea on the logistics and all the costs with these likely being the main defining factors but perhaps hosting playoffs for splits in different APAC countries each time could draw viewership. Doesn't need to be the production level of a Masters/Champions event but would be nice.

expensive countries : JP, KR, SG, AUS
cons : it's expensive...
cheap countries : all SEA except SG, IND
cons : infrastructure.
but yeah i think they should move to japan or singapore even.

Dunno about other country outside of APAC but all Souteast Asian countries can enter SG visa-free because all of them are part of ASEAN.

SG is even pricier than KR
For Japan, Tokyo is really expensive, for gaming house probably need to move to the edge of Tokyo, such as Tachikawa or Hachioji

  • Korea means RIOT doesn’t need work permit/visa for the production stuff (a lot) + their housings.
  • Moving to another country requires more teams to establish game house + making foreign bank account (ask Patrick who about his delays)
  • Jake sin + Leo Faria pre much said making road shows in different place for stage 2 finals better idea (pacific stage 2 in tokyo).

I agree with OP here, I also think they should host in South East Asian countries to build influence. Same goes with VCL, they should host LAN events in SEA.

agree (maybe) but dont host it in the Philippines. The internet sucks, traffic sucks, the cities suck. I dont want my favorite players to stay in a shit country.

I heard that the playoffs will be held in Japan. But moving the stage to another country is almost impossible, since Riot has built the whole Pacific ecosystem around Korea. Teams would have a hard time adaptin, they’d need to get a new basecamp and rework everything like salaries, insurance, and other

its not that easy to relocate the VCT season to another country. they "can" but its its really hard to actually make it happen

I'll stand by the fact that they can host it in Thailand if they wanted to. It's cheaper here, VISA friendly to most nationalities, Bangkok is widely multinational with access to worldwide cuisine, a decently passionate fanbase (though admittedly, RIOT has killed a lot of hype Thai VALORANT fans had but Masters Bangkok definitely reignited some passion) and our infrastructure is more than capable of hosting tournaments, especially simple playoffs or even an entire stage of VCT PACIFIC. Of course, the issue isn't whether it's possible, it's whether it's worth the time and investment to actually carry this out and would require a whole lot more planning but RIOT will ultimately have to make a choice unless they want the scene to become stagnant since lets be real, there is no real hype during most VCT games.
