I hate VCT format

Cloud9 played their last game on July 17, 2024, exactly 6 months prior to kickoff. Now they played three games and have to wait another 2 months to play an official again in Stage 1. A grand total of 3 official games in 8 months.

"But uhm they got to win and qualify to events if they want to play more!" I don't care if they win, lose or if they go partying to Madagascar on the weekends. There's no good reason why it should be possible for a Franchised Tier 1 team to only play 3 official matches in the span of 8 months. Even if they lose everything that's just way too few games. Imagine being a C9 fan and having to wait over half a year for 3 official matches and then back to waiting 2 more months. With this type of stuff, it's no wonder some people find it hard to stay engaged in VCT.

Before anyone mentions that they are stretching VCT to reduce the offseason time, that's just a very lazy patch for a bigger problem. It's literally a very similar number of games in the span of a year. We will get a shorter off season in exchange for having to wait more time between matches.

Ur right ill edit that, 3 games in 8 months. Even with that, it's not even an average of 1 game every 2 months which is insane.

I mean riot changed the format in league too. In regions like lpl, if you’re shit in groups, you gotta wait until next split cuz if you’re shit, what’s the point of letting you play more matches when everyone knows you’re not gonna win. Might as well just not let them play games and let them make their own adjustments.

It doesn't matter if a team isn't great, I'm not asking for them to play a lot just at least more from what we currently have. Plus, even if skill related stuff mattered in my argument, bad teams get good by playing more and it's hard to make adjustments if they don't have many official matches to go by. And we all know scrims are, most of the time, not representative of an official match. Many teams look great on scrims and then look shit on official matches.

Good, they can now improve while the others are still in the competition

I mean I think that should be what the offseason is for, seeing teams you root for play (which c9 did play a lot of and shouldn't be excluded)
officials in VCT should showcase the winners more than the losers through tournament brackets I think that makes the most sense

i think its crazy that CN Grand Finals are happening before Gen.G even play their first match

There's like 5 days of no matches coming up, Americas is randomly taking a break this weekend and pushing everything down a week

It's only like 2 days, not 5, but yeah it is weird how unsynchronized the regions are. I especially don't get why there's a full week between DRX/PRX and GEN/TLN playing their first games when they're all seeded in the same spot

100% real, this esports scene is so poorly managed. It sucks even more cause these are the "franchised" teams, and this is the treatment they get and perks.

Tier 2 is a whole other pile of garbage.

Americas should adopt evolution series like CN schedule then. Evolution series gonna be for VCT CN teams that doesn't qualify to internationals + possibly some Tier 2 CN teams. This is what current 2025 CN schedule looks like:

  • VCT CN Kickoff (January 11-25)
  • CN Evolution Act I (February)
  • VALORANT Masters Bangkok (February 20 – March 2)
  • VCT CN Stage 1 (March 13 – May 4)
  • CN Evolution Act II (May)
  • VALORANT Masters Toronto (June 8-22)
  • VCT CN Stage 2 (July- August)
  • CN Evolution Act III (August)
  • VALORANT Champions Paris (September 12 – October 6)
  • VCT Ascension CN (TBA)
  • CN Evolution Epilogue (November)

Someone on different thread commented
"shit schedule for good teams and good schedule for shit teams."

There's arguments about whether teams will get enough rest, cause this is the result of 14 months of gruelling schedule for EDG.

Do you think this schedule is good or no?

With the way RIOT handles VISA, there's gonna be tremendous amount of VISA issues for SEA + South American players. CS is a western heavy focus game for a reason.

I agree , it should be a complete round robin for each stage wherein each team plays others and tbh i wanted riot to have 16 teams in each region wherein 12 are franchised and 4 are from ascension ( not singular year obviously) and then masters 1 has 12 teams and masters 2 has 16 while champs has 20. How abt it?

valorant players cry about getting burnt out and stuff. There is no prestige yet in val yet, OXY and Xeppa don't mind streaming for the next 2 months but if you ask Twistzz, ropz, and Elige that. Completely different answer

Imagine being a c9 fan 😔
Alr mb, you do bring up a fair point, in all regions there will be teams who suffer this fate of not making internationals, and as a result, not being able to play many games. Do you have any ideas for format changes or suggestions which will involve the entire franchise league? An international for teams with a worse score? An event like lock in? I'm not sure any way is an improvement over the current format
