Cloud9 played their last game on July 17, 2024, exactly 6 months prior to kickoff. Now they played three games and have to wait another 2 months to play an official again in Stage 1. A grand total of 3 official games in 8 months.
"But uhm they got to win and qualify to events if they want to play more!" I don't care if they win, lose or if they go partying to Madagascar on the weekends. There's no good reason why it should be possible for a Franchised Tier 1 team to only play 3 official matches in the span of 8 months. Even if they lose everything that's just way too few games. Imagine being a C9 fan and having to wait over half a year for 3 official matches and then back to waiting 2 more months. With this type of stuff, it's no wonder some people find it hard to stay engaged in VCT.
Before anyone mentions that they are stretching VCT to reduce the offseason time, that's just a very lazy patch for a bigger problem. It's literally a very similar number of games in the span of a year. We will get a shorter off season in exchange for having to wait more time between matches.
