Genuine quesiton. Why the hype? What changed so much that puts them above the rest? Are Verno and mada that good to make them an S tier team now?
Not trying to hate or anything, but NRG were pretty mediocre last year and now I'm seeing them in every tier list, every prediction above all other teams, even winning kickoff.

This team has 1 of the same players and staff that the previous NRG had. Why are you comparing the two as if theyd be the same team at all? Som is FAR better a controller than Marved has been recently in both frags and util timings, FNS is a world class caller thats attended almost every VCT international event that he was in the running for even though his stats are almost always subpar, Ethan is a world class initiator and was arguably the best player of 2023 and now he doesnt have to be held down by IGLing, Verno is and has been a major prospect ever since he started in T2, Mada is an alright duelist but hes been shining a lot more than his prior teams now that hes under FNS.
Unless you just havent been made aware of any of the changes this season then idk why youd ask such a dumb question
as a FNC fan imma just say that year was literally a smurf year. The whole year saw every single prominent team fall to absolute shit even the ones that attended Lock In and reached top 4 bowed out in the first 2 games of tokyo and one of them couldnt even win 1 game in groups.
People give FNC so much credit for that year but in reality every other team was just suffering from the start of franchising. You saw how poorly their fundamentals crumbled when actually challenged during champs and they couldnt fall back on anything because their whole thing was that they had world class players that all just could win multiple gunfights each round
Verno is extremly good and could be on the level of Riens last year
FNS is proven to be one of the best igls oat and in the off season has been fragging higher than normal
S0M is still an amazing smokes player who has potential to be top 5 itw
Ethan is a world champ for a reason and is looking back in form
and Mada has potential ig hasnt really shown it but people tell me hes good
TLDR-Rb is the goat buy the TEC bundle
Som is easily top 3 smokes itw now that tenz is gone and karon has been slowing down on this new geng, could even be argued to be top 1 cause i dont know any other smokes players that have the potential like he does, Pancada has been having horrible luck with his team, Marved isnt even playing, Mako fell off hard, bang is good but hasnt been the world class kind of player in a while.
Verno has the potential he said, not that verno is anywhere close to what riens was last year. Either way tho riens was hella overrated, I was rooting for the guy cause i love turks but the glaze everyone was giving him was crazy.
FNS has been fragging more this season that he ever has been. He literally had a match mvp game on the 1 map that they beat rapid lofi on in the first game. THAT NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE, FNS looks actually really comfortable aiming and taking 1v1s when hes feeling it now
It’s bias nothing more. People are quick to say you shouldn’t use the off season when C9 absolutely obliterates G2 or when Furia beats Kru and Mibr back to back but will base NRG entirely off what they’ve done in the off season. NRG will be good but not nearly as good as people seem to think hopefully opens some eyes.
