""Flexible Signings: Game Changers players can be signed anytime by Challengers or International League teams, bypassing all transfer windows and restrictions.""

If she performs well on Apeks, even while the rest of the team is doing shit, other VCT teams could sign her at any point during the season
so EG Florescent might be possible still later on.

Hell, if any team has visa problems prior to a tournament again this might be their only option

why does that exist

Riot is trying to encourage tier1 & tier2 teams to take a chance on GC players

it seems like they will be forced into bad situations were they will perform badly

"Forced" do you know what a trial is. If the Gc players perform better in trials than others than those "others" will perform worse anyways

cause they know GC schedule is shit

also idk if it still counts if flor goes to apeks, i thought it was just if a gc player is currently ON a gc team and someone wants to pick them up

That’s what I though too but then it would mean gc players could only switch to t1/t2 in between splits

#7

Does this not only apply to current GC players?
Flor becomes a regular VCT player when she signs to Apeks, so this would not apply to her.

#8

It might just be GC eligible players; i.e. players that are AnyKey verified

#15

If it is, that can become very broken, especially when we get to the point where there are multiple GC eligible players on T1 level

#17

It's definitely just a temporary measure, like the entirety of GC itself

the whole point is to incentivize that kind of development

just to put it out there for those who are misinformed/have not heard

"GC Alumni" counts as any player that has played in the playoffs/main event of a regional VCT game changers. Even In 40 years I'll be considered a "GC Alumni" and will have these special exceptions. (this also means I don't count as an import to any VCT region whether its EMEA, APAC, CN)

Does this mean, lets say a trans-girl who meets those requirements to be considered an alumni, if they choose to go back to being cis, would they still be considered an alumni?

Or a bio-girl who decides to become a trans-man?

By the wording, yes, but both of these scenarios are such a statistically low chance that I'm curious why you would ask?

No one would sign them if they don't do rhis

#11

They don't mean she can be signed anytime just because she came from GC lol. Once she starts the season on Apeks, she is a T1 player, so these rules don't apply anymore. She is contractually obligated to stay on the team as long as they want her there. Those rules you linked only apply to players actively in GC only/not in T1.

#12
Nachtel

Where is that specification? As far as I know a GC player could refer to anyone who is eligible to play in GC

#13
Harapan845

Frags

that would mean that any female player could be signed any time no?

#14

I think that's the intention yes

#16

well if we get more coed rosters I hope they change that because having one gender being able to be signed anytime while the other cant is insane

#18

Because it says Game Changers players; if you are a player that is not playing on the Game changers circuit, but rather in franchising, by definition you are not a Game Changers player, you're a franchised player? The same way a player that gets dropped from a T1 team, is no longer a franchised player, so franchised player rules would not apply to them, even if they used to play T1. That's just how documentation works, otherwise you'd have to proclaim what pertains to every "eligible" group when writing rules.

#30

Oh wow, that's pretty insane if it even pertains while she's playing in T1. Any NA team can just throw a bag to get her back home midseason then if she performs well. Feel like this is going to be amended sometime in the future, otherwise any team signing a GC player is in a lose lose situation.

#32
Conceit

Yeah it's pretty wild, not what I would have expected

#27
Cabo_

Frags

Okay that's cool and all but the cutoff for challengers was the 17th so that means T2 teams will not wait around to trial and see if a player fits in their roster so even if that window is not applicable for Alumnis T2 teams still had to make a final roster on the 17th and I'm assuming most teams don't want to gamble on a GC player that they don't even know would do good in their enviroment.

sick

#35

does this not make 0 sense when you take into account that T2 doesnt get the same chance? especially when on average T2 is a higher level of play than GC

I know there are affiliate teams but thats much more limited

#40
Laundry
1
Frags
+

the point of it is to incentivize teams to sign GC players to go to T2 and T1, it doesn't make sense to give it to T2 because more than 90% of rookie signings come from T2

#42
cohnr
0
Frags
+

but 99% of GC players are not even close to T1 level, this wont be used pretty much ever

dont get me wrong it would be a good idea for representation if they could play at that level but they will be brought into T1, play badly because the level is completely different then get scrutinised by the public and the hate will get worse

#43
Nachtel
0
Frags

It's a measure that will be used more in the future when more GC players become T1 level. It's not intended to have immediate widespread use--that would be broken otherwise and create a lot of outrage
