Anyone else thinking about how fairly fucked we are with the upbringing of A.I. and the advancements in many fields? Maybe I am overthinking it but it really is progressing at an alarming rate. It was initially simple things, like chat bots, but now it can replicate art well and produce new pieces. It's also taking careers in the workforce simple things like production line workers or advanced things like software engineers (though a little less advanced in those fields)

It feels like it's taking everything from us. Why is AI taking our hobbies as well? What is the point of trying to replace everybody?

And the developers of these AI seemingly have no restraint, and if they do, it's only to the degree that they'll let you access these programs for a price.

AI also has good sides like cancer detection etc.

Well it makes images clearer not necessarily "detect cancer"

he said cancer detection, which could also mean "helps in detecting cancer", not necessarily "being the thing that detects cancer"

Sorry to hear that bear mans πŸ˜”. I haven't settled on a career path yet but everything looks a little less appealing when it'll probably completely unviable in 10 maybe even 5 years. What's your job field btw?

At least it can double as a hobby still lol. Hope u found something that works for now, losing your job isnt no joke 🀬🀬🀬Though, i think that mindset is a bit unhealthy. I think it'd still be a good idea to try other things even without the ai apocalypse. Make the most of the world and try everything kind of philosophy y know 😊 Most important part is just sticking to it 🫑

art legit wont get fully replaced by ai

honestly it depends I think certain fields such as graphic design that companies need often and don't care about the actual authenticity of the art and are willing to use ai for cheaper will get replaced but I think a lot of other fields such as producing music or logos or cover art for a new book things that require more thought and generally have more meaning behind each part won't be completely replaced and only people that do it for money and not for the sake of making good music etc. will use AI

commercial art will imo. an entire industry of work outsourced to professional cartoonists or artists will definitely go to AI,

why have some bozo make your logo when you can just ask AI to make one

This is normal its just the cycle of modern civilization. A new automation comes around replaces many jobs. Generally jobs that don't require much learning or experience. Many people lose their jobs and only the people who makes the automation or peoples jobs that require much more learning of experience don't get affected.

Though, previously the majority of the automations made it easier for the fields they were intended for and not completed replace the person behind it. In fact, previous automations often created more jobs at the same time.

But the only jobs AI will create are "prompt engineers" πŸ˜”
This is so sad

Yeah it is sad but eventually everyone will get used to it and new generation of kids will have a few less job they could work

TW: This is my opinion only.

Well, it was humans who developed AI, so technically, in terms of experience and our knowledge of how life actually works, us humans still have the advantage.

Ai is only bad in this capitalistic system where 0.1% percent of the population have 99% of wealth.

Oh I know, I just mean that sort of thing would stick around even if we changed our socioeconomic systems because it's such an addiction at this point. Maybe not with the right regulation tho idk

It's frankly just ridiculous that we're at the point of entire job markets being performed by AI, and yet we still don't have basic necessities of life guaranteed for everyone.

Yep. Greedy companies looking for ways to make more money while we will be left looking for what ways we even can make money. Absolutely ridiculous

The thing is, actual AI is still in its infancy. What we see right now (chatbots and stuff) is GenAI, which is still extremely limited. GenAI will never fully replace human intervention, as it is not aware of what it actually generates. Basically AI right now is not actually smart, its just good at faking being smart by spitting out what smart people say on the internet. So it will still need human intervention in most domains.

This is a take from Yann LeCun btw (who is basically the AI goat) if you want to know more about this.

That said it is scary what GenAI can still do in domains like art, which is frankly fucking sad imo cuz it just removes soul and emotions from the most beautiful stuff humans do (paintings, music, etc)

It can't overtake its own knowledge by itself, but it can definitely replace so many jobs with the knowledge we've already fed it.

It's still a looming threat

Not the first time when technology evolution took jobs
