Now that FENNEL have just barely failed to qualify for ascension for the second year in a row, I think ZETA should really consider picking up some of their players. Apparently they did try last year but the FENNEL core wanted to stick together. So in that case ZETA’s best move would be to pickup the FENNEL’s 3 best players (incidentally the 3 that have stayed together the longest and the aforementioned core): SyouTa, Xdll, and CLZ, dropping SugarZ3r0, hiroronn, and yuran, replacing each other’s roles respectively. This paired with the fact that the main thing holding ZETA back was seemingly the lack of a dedicated IGL.

As a caveat, the players on ZETA, notably SugarZ3r0 and hiroronn, could probably do well on DFM; SugarZ3r0 already has good chem with Meiy and Astell from their days together on NORTHEPTION in 2021, and hiroronn is, and always has been, more comfortable on sentinel (so he and Laz are incompatible).

The JP franchising teams would be so much more competitive with these players/rosters:

True I think SyouTa should play some duelists but he’s not nearly as good on the duelists besides Jett. But anyway there would be no role issues bc host Dep and SyouTa are hella flexible.

As for TENNN, he’s definitely not a world-class player, but the options are hella limited for gud initiator players in the jp scene (unfortunately it seems like he’s one of the better ones). And I would argue that FENNEL got better with TENNN in, not because he’s very good or anything, but because Derialy was just so clearly a level below the rest.

but the point is he can do it decently (2021 nth he played imitator and sentinel), other JP and initiators like Anthem and popogachi just aren’t gud enough.

I'd say popogachi still has a chance to prove himself in the franchise league. He only played like 1 match with DFM after all. The problem with TENNN is that he's been underperforming after his eye injury and overall something is missing from him that doesn't quite make him a good player.

They experimented with both at some point but afaik they eventually settled on SugarZ3r0

Ur right it’s unlikely they will drop him, but imo they should — CLZ is a better IGL and has similar fragging ability, and both Dep or SyouTa should be able to find more value than him on smokes.

ngl if you're putting SugarZ3r0 onto DFM on the basis of having chemistry with Meiy and Astell then it would make more sense to put Laz on DFM and let hiroronn play with his Fennel squad no?

DFM is a bit complicated because they have the affiliation with CR. Will depend on the details of their partnership and if Ozizi has a say. Also what Ozizi thinks as well.

imo the best coaches in the jp scene are Astell (DFM), Johnna (FL), and above all Vorz (RIDDLE).

zeta should have let Vorz coach the main roster he’s proven himself so many times now.

I recently had this thought that T1 should build more around Sayaplayer, allowing him to play more like 2022 yay on chamber, jett, etc… Esp since it seemed like they were experimenting with it at the end of split 2 and Saya was frying.

Basically T1 would need loads of extremely flexible players, and notably one that can play the other duelists (iZu fits this description but tbh i’m not sold on him bc he’s been way to inconsistent the past year)

The roster for T1 I landed on was:

Duel: Sayaplayer
Init: stax
Senti: L0B
Contr: Estrella [IGL]
Flex: Rb

As i mentioned before Sayaplayer’s role would be more akin to an awper than a duelist, while Rb would play the other duelists. L0B and Estrella would also be able to flex across multiple roles. Finally if Estrella can’t be acquired from RRQ to IGL, Hermes or exy (kr challengers) are worse but viable substitutes for the role.

dude dropping one of dep laz and sugar is already a troll move

the main problem of this roster was the questionable coaching staff this season

how come you have like 6 coaches and play a double flash comp on icebox and still play passively

get a legendary coach or smth i dont think its a player issue

also DFM's roster as is have probably the most potential out of any team in APAC

they also are in need of a good coach and strats

totally agree the coaching staff has been subpar, but at the same time i feel that between SugarZ3r0 and Laz the zeta core has been given way too long to solve their IGLing issues (2 years!!).

In my mind zeta need 2 things: An IGL and coaching staff pair which will improve the team’s mid-rounding, and just overall more firepower.

SyouTa and Xdll are world-class aimers (just by the eye) and will provide Dep with much needed fragging support. CLZ is a more experienced and proven IGL despite being very hot and cold aim wise. And finally if Laz is thinking of retiring, then hiroronn can finally shine.
