Dude the aimers are better sure, like akame is crazy, but holy shit Art has gotta be the jp goat. Dfm finally found a good IGL; that’s what they were missing the past 2 years.

As much as I don’t root for either loud, lev, or any of the players on those teams in particular, I think that aspas was, while not playing as good as before, it was largely in part to having a poorer system to play around.

Player to player wise, all of the players from that 2022 LOUD roster would clear the current LEV players at any point (except maybe saadhak i guess).

While it’s true that these same players are no longer in the same form they were back then, it doesn’t change the fact that aspas now has a weaker team around him, on multiple fronts: aim, game sense, and overall chemistry. If anything, the fact that he is still able to perform as his is now with these setbacks should be a testament to his ability.

exactly, he was frying on loud in 2022

2022 Sacy clears C0M imo (not anymore tho tbf)

Demon1 is a crazy good player, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t see him succeeding in a roster where he’s not allowed to play his preferred set of roles: Jett + Smokes.

It’s been a trend recently that there’s basically 3 main types of Duelist players: Ones that can play any duelist like aspas zekken, KK and so on, ones that play only play Jett and Smokes like Demon1 and Cryo, and those that they need to be paired up with: ppl who play Raze, Neon, and flex on the other roles (usually initiator), such as Jawgemo, Asuna, and even sinatraa.

EG 2023 made use of Demon1 because Jawgemo was there to play the other duelists and flex around. He played initiators and controllers a bunch, meaning they didn’t need a dedicated controller player. Having a hard controller player like s0m on NRG will conflict heavily with a player like Demon1. You can’t have so many inflexible players roles wise an a single team.

NRG sinatraa.

please it would be fking perfect

mitch should IGL in t1, if not maybe MxS pick him up and finally win Ascension for 2025

posted 3 months ago

thank god pls don’t let mistic back in t1

give Enz0 to gentle mates, he’s not a fragger but they need a more experienced IGL

posted 3 months ago

Man this hurts me to say but KK shouldn’t be number 1. EDG won because his team is well rounded — CHICHOO and Smoggy are shooters. Across the year I’d say:

  1. Aspas
  2. t3xture
  3. ZmjjKK
  4. Zekken
  5. Derke

Honorable mentions: GEN, G2, DRX

posted 4 months ago

Not to take away from any team, but I do still think that GEN should be in the discussion as to who the top teams in the world are, despite getting grouped. All 4 remaining teams seemingly can play to a level that reflects their current position, but there’s no doubt in my mind that present form was a huge factor.

TH: Despite their ups and downs (and my personal bias against them lmao) they have probs been the most deserving bc of their consistency.

EDG: Such massive improvements after Haodong was moved to coach and they picked up S1mon, they have so many braggers and S1mon’s util just enabled them all so well

SEN: Looking better and better with each game, though a bit inconsistent; sometimes their wins feel like some player (usually zekken) just bails them out with his aim.

LEV: imo the weakest team of the 4, and could’ve have easily gone 0-2 in playoffs. Excluding aspas, I still doubt their consistency. They got off with an easy group and having life games out of C0M so far in playoffs.

Map rankings for ranked and pro play (minus Abyss):

  1. Haven
  2. Fracture
  3. Ascent
  4. Lotus
  5. Split
  6. Bind
  7. Sunset
  8. Pearl

<GAP>

  1. Breeze
  2. Icebox
posted 4 months ago

This is coming off of the new updates coming up to the game’s map pool, where, according to speculation, Valorant are looking to change the maps system, possibly keeping certain maps in for much longer, and maybe even retiring others for extended periods of time.

So here’s ig just a personal opinion on which maps are the best and worse looking at both ranked and pro play (leaving out Abyss for now).

  1. Haven
  2. Fracture
  3. Ascent
  4. Lotus
  5. Split
  6. Bind
  7. Pearl
  8. Sunset
    <GAP>
  9. Breeze
  10. Icebox

For the record, this is my opinion on how good the current JP player pool is

S TIER PLAYERS:
Dep
Meiy
SyouTa
Laz
Aace
SugarZ3r0 [IGL]
Seoldam <KR>

A TIER PLAYERS:
hiroronn
CLZ [IGL]
G0N [IGL]
Xdll
yatsuka
Caedye
popogachi
JoxJo [IGL] <KR>
Medusa <KR>
TENNN

B TIER PLAYERS:
Derialy
Anthem [IGL]
N0BITA [IGL]
gatorada

ZETA DIVISION
Duel: SyouTa
Init: Xdll
Senti: Laz
Contr: Dep
Flex: CLZ [IGL]
Coach: Johnta, Euler

DETONATION FOCUSME
Duel: Meiy
Init: popogachi
Senti: hiroronn
Contr: SugarZ3r0 [IGL]
Flex: neth
Coach: Astell

If Laz retires, hiroronn stays on ZETA, and Medusa remains on DFM. This better or worse?

posted 4 months ago

My brain says GONEXT and APEKS, my heart says KPI.

posted 4 months ago

but the point is he can do it decently (2021 nth he played imitator and sentinel), other JP and initiators like Anthem and popogachi just aren’t gud enough.

posted 4 months ago

They experimented with both at some point but afaik they eventually settled on SugarZ3r0

Ur right it’s unlikely they will drop him, but imo they should — CLZ is a better IGL and has similar fragging ability, and both Dep or SyouTa should be able to find more value than him on smokes.

posted 4 months ago

I mean yea that’s fair…

Man just, something in me wants to see Laz find success in Zeta after all this time

posted 4 months ago

True I think SyouTa should play some duelists but he’s not nearly as good on the duelists besides Jett. But anyway there would be no role issues bc host Dep and SyouTa are hella flexible.

As for TENNN, he’s definitely not a world-class player, but the options are hella limited for gud initiator players in the jp scene (unfortunately it seems like he’s one of the better ones). And I would argue that FENNEL got better with TENNN in, not because he’s very good or anything, but because Derialy was just so clearly a level below the rest.

Now that FENNEL have just barely failed to qualify for ascension for the second year in a row, I think ZETA should really consider picking up some of their players. Apparently they did try last year but the FENNEL core wanted to stick together. So in that case ZETA’s best move would be to pickup the FENNEL’s 3 best players (incidentally the 3 that have stayed together the longest and the aforementioned core): SyouTa, Xdll, and CLZ, dropping SugarZ3r0, hiroronn, and yuran, replacing each other’s roles respectively. This paired with the fact that the main thing holding ZETA back was seemingly the lack of a dedicated IGL.

As a caveat, the players on ZETA, notably SugarZ3r0 and hiroronn, could probably do well on DFM; SugarZ3r0 already has good chem with Meiy and Astell from their days together on NORTHEPTION in 2021, and hiroronn is, and always has been, more comfortable on sentinel (so he and Laz are incompatible).

The JP franchising teams would be so much more competitive with these players/rosters:

ZETA DIVISION
Duel: Dep
Init: Xdll
Senti: Laz
Contr: SyouTa
Flex: CLZ [IGL]

DETONATION FOCUSME
Duel: Meiy
Init: TENNN
Senti: hiroronn
Contr: SugarZ3r0 [IGL]
Flex: neth (?)

(this is excluding players from RIDDLE ORDER as they actually have a non-zero chance of winning ascension)

fpx should do like -Lysoar +Spring or smth

posted 5 months ago

wait whattt

ayo no hate but imo AAAAY is like their best player. acts as secondary caller and constant impact both thru gunplay and well-timed util. His poor statistical performances are usually when his teammates are alr cleaning up the server. But when they don’t he’s the one getting the kills — it’s extremely clear esp looking at their international games.

posted 5 months ago

mannnn why does this always happen

Lysoar needs to go. He’s by far the weakest link of fpx — hella inconsistent and low impact. BUT ONCE A FKING MONTH HE HAS A LIFE GAME AND EXTENDS SAVES HIS PAYCHECK ALSJHSJSJDKAKSJ

So much potential, esp Aace and maybe yatsuka. Lowk Caedye is lookin like another TENNN — high highs but low lows, still a bit too inconsistent and probs the least disciplined of the bunch (he still got time tho).
