Problem is. I don't support NA teams since I started Valorant. 1st team I saw was fnc in reyk and gmb nats lower bracket run in emea vct stage 3. When I saw Gambit, I rooted for them in Berlin and my first ever prediction was the trophy. After that i only semi-predicted FPX win in Copenhagen..

fnatic at champs. beat them first time they played against them, then lost to them in the rematch.
in lcq, they had probably the roughest ride of all the teams. had to fight Sen, C9, Faze, and then The Guard who were the favourites of LCQ.
Like, I dont see how they were seen as the favourites, but being seen as the best Na team behind NRG is what I saw more of. favourites of the event, whoever calls that is delusional. Navi, loud, and fnatic were the favourites of the event, by far.
The thought process was basically:
Cryo on XSET had performance comparable to Yay.
The 4 person 100T core managed to win against Fnatic at Champions.
Replacing Will with Cryo would give them the firepower they needed to win it all.
Bang became the 2nd best smokes player in NA within the span of 2 months somehow.

There is a considerable difference between designating a certain player to play a role and then believing that this same player to be the best in this role across the whole region... the latter is referred to as OVERRATING which NA region is so good at. Good luck to 100T and Bang.... and please disregard comparing Bang to a superstar player such as Boaster - just wanted to make a point.
Nevertheless, any organisation that decides to abandon such a top-tier talent/player as MarveD is dubbed CLUELESS and BRAINDEAD... I don't care what anyone believes - <<insert here the name of anyone in the industry>> - I will prove them wrong. You don't even have to look too deep into the data to find MarveD's excellence in the role, not even scratching the f-ing surface - the fact has been known since long time. LET THE KID PLAY, god damn!
And surprise surpise.... YAY too found himself on the bench (which is literally a crime) - bunch of premature - aka "Imma choke you with my urgent goal projections" - noobs of a region, nothing else - in terms of ORGANISATIONAL efficiency and estimation of their talent pool. Who on F-ing earth would put YAY and Leaf on the same team??? <--- rhetorical question ofc. If you do so, then for love of a god, assign them accordingly! But no....
If anything, the whole region should be ashamed of how their orgs treat pro players! Though, respect to sgares on doing it the right way....
PS, don't believe I'm speaking from a place of hatred or jealousy... but of pure and factual truth and fairness to hardworking players!
I don't think it's fair to compare Bang and Boaster. Even though both play controllers, they don't necessary play the same role.
I like to differentiate between independent smokes players like Marved and Banged vs IGL smokes players like Boaster and Valyn. Between the two camps, one is more actively the designated lurker and meant to be the clutch player, while the other typically plays more solidly and is meant to place smokes within the midround once they get a read (Independent smokes players can also do this, but since the IGL usually mid-rounds, them being the smoke character streamlines the process vs wasting time and distracting an independent smokes player to request a specific smoke.
I don't know what's gotten into all the IGLs this tournament, fragging out as much as they are, but in general I think bang's impact is different than Boaster's impact.

I dont believe bang is the best in NA. I just stated why bang stood out compared to other smokers, who wernt exactly the best mechanical players. This is the same reason why people assumed Zander would get picked up by a franchised team. I do believe bang is up there as a mechanical controller. We're reaching the stage where just having good util isn't enough. Not always showing up on the scoreboard, is losing teams on matches. Even as IGL's. It's why fnatic have looked great the past couple games, as boaster has shown up when needed (other than furia haven). It's why Navi look insane, and why loud were always good.
Bang just has a few off games, but overall is generally a good mechanical controller. This is what led people to believe he's one of the best controllers in NA. That and marved was slowly leaning towards initiators towards the end of optic.

Marved not being picked up isn't surprising to me. As a player, he's by far the best controller player in NA. However him deciding not to go lft led orgs to find other options, and when he decided he wanted to play, it was too late. Even then, he will always have a sketchy past from CS, which people still bring up constantly.
Yay being benched and dropped was a mutual thing. No was c9 would dissolve a contract of yay, when they know how much money they could make out of him. I do agree that yay joining the team wasn't ideal, as it changed the whole dynamic that made c9 what it was. Ik you said rhetorical, but yay going there wasn't a great idea. They had a good dynamic of leaf duelist, xeppa init, vanity igl/smoke, and then zellsis as flex/2nd duelist. Yay going in make leaf go to sentinel, zellsis on 2nd duelist, xeppa stayed init, and vanity stayed.
Hopefully yay joins a team that knows how to work around him, without changing vital team roles.
PS. same with you. I dont type any of this out of anything vindictive, or mean. Just my general opinion on it. Also I do agree that NA treats players like shit in general, and more of merchandise than a team member (tenz c9, contract hell players get put in)
