All ascension teams are playing for a Top 4 or they relegate.

G2 can’t risk running it back with Icy at duelist, he was a big addition to there team this year, but Champs will be even harder to make next year because Top 2 In playoffs Qual and then the next 2 slots are determine off Points from the whole season.

So they have to basically be a Top 4 team the whole year.
No way they don’t atleast trial Another duelist. ( Mada etc ) icys cool but they aren’t winning anything with him.

team obv has inconsistency and map issues, you can’t depend on winning as a team every map/series you play.

Most series they play are 2-1s, the team could use a upgrade at duelist lmao.

if you look at their comps on most maps, they love running double controller and KJ (haven, abyss, lotus, icebox, hell they even tried it on ascent in the beginning of kickoff) and what map can you not play double controller and KJ? sunset

I'm by no means an expert, but aren't inconsistency and map issues both direct consequences of not enough scrim time? If you practice a map more, not only does it get better, but you also become more consistent at it with each rep

Like i said the team is depending on team play then having an individual that can pop off and it’ll only be read easier next year.

they can get better but that doesnt matter, they must be better than others who are also working to improve, icy is just not good enough doesnt matter how flawless u play or how much u practice, u simply need a better player in the most impactful role, tactics and coordination arent everything, u also need individually gifted players that can allow u to have even more solutions tactically and win rounds on their own

its way riskier to trial a new player out and potentially damage the team atmosphere when all g2 has to do is be better than the ascension team (if we are talking abt not getting relegated)

sure they can raise their ceiling, but in this case you dont need to raise your ceiling, just maintain the floor

I don't think they need to change anything in order to win a title honestly.
Both Icy and Trent, in my eyes, could have a lot more impact on rounds and games that they haven't shown this year.
A meta shift or just time could unlock this potential.

My main issue with G2 is that while I trust Trent, as he showed us in 2022 that he was a DEMON when he got activated, Icy only had that for one game, and it was against a battered down, broken SEN in a regular season match. I'd rather take a Jawgemo who we know has proven himself on the highest stage against the best of opponents than a duelist who absolutely showed up against teams who weren't in their best form, and hasn't really flipped the game as a star much throughout the year other than those 1 or 2 games.

Yeah theoretically I expected Trent to be BY FAR the best player on G2 this year, maybe except from leaf, but he has really been ghosting some important games and just kinda waddles along in games they win and on the games they lose people just blame icy lol

G2’s system is more built around the team and not icy
I don’t think jawgemo isn’t that good of a fit
