I’ve been using Face Wash about 2 times a day for the past 6 months and this month randomly i’ve been getting a fuck ton of pimples/ingrown hairs, can anyone recommend products thats I can use? Also I don’t eat a lot of greasy food nor touch my face when I eat so I don’t understand.

Avoid dairy products, stuff with high fat. Diet makes a bigger impact than exercise imo, but it doesn't hurt to practice both.

If you can't make time for the gym, even just going for a decent walk w/ some earbuds in is a reasonable substitute.

E: and avoid stuff with high sodium as someone else mentioned. It's all about balance though, if you can't eliminate something that you have a sensitivity towards, you can at least cut back on it.

If you have a history of acne, and its not just on your face. Depending on how old you are, accutane might be your only saving grace.

If its just a random breakout, there's nothing wrong with that.

I’m 17, I could buy accutane thank you for the suggestion!

If you're 17 I'd say its really not that big of an issue. I had acne all of over my face and body and it was getting really extreme, and was genetic. Like I said, if its just a random outbreak, accutane is overkill.

Medications affect people differently. I used it for 5-6 months and didn't really have any issues other than my skin drying up which is normal.

  1. Fix ur diet. Stay away from high sodium foods

  2. Cleanse then use moisturizer every morning and evening (ur gonna have to do ur own research on what moisturizer to use based on ur skin type)

  3. Use sunscreen after moisturizing every morning. I recommend SKIN1004 Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum.

Order any korean/japanese facecare products online.
Get a set with like cleanser, toner, and moisturizer. (These 3 are bare minimum imo).
If you have more money to spare get serum to apply after toner and before moisturizer too.
Must also get Acne Pimple Master Patch (Korean product) for pimple, works super effectively for pimples (legit a game-changer) which u paste after cleansing/mosturizing.

OP is in NA, so he can probably just get something domestic.

I haven't looked myself, but I imagine there could be import taxes and whatnot crossing the pacific.

Idk about all the shipping fees for NA but I’m just suggesting what I think is best for OP.
Western facial products are usually harsher and would have different reactions depending on ur skin type (which seems to be the case for OP’s breakout), but korean/japanese products are much gentler for the skin irregardless of it.
Unless you get high-end one from western then it should be fine, or else ur common cleanser etc would need a lot of trialing and troubleshooting (from my personal experience).
So to simplify it just use korean/japanese products, they are at the very front-end of the skincare industry anyways.

Anyways, he MUST get that pimple patch, new pimple usually clear like after 2-4 days if he use it.

If you want the full package:
Oil Cleanser
Foaming Cleanser (one with salicylic(?) acid will help prevent sebaceous filaments (the stuff in your nose that people call blackheads and shit))
Toner
Serum (Ampoules, retinol, niacinamide etc. Make sure not to apply too many products as it may damage your skin instead of rejuvenate it. For many, "TheOrdinary Niacinamide+Zinc" is pretty good.)
Moisturizer
Suncream/Sunscreen

Once or twice a week apply a clay pore mask pack after cleansing.

Sleep regularly, stay hydrated, and stay away from oily/unhealthy foods. You need to be consistent with skincare - twice a day and after a few months you'll notice changes. With niacinamide you may notice changes within weeks tbh.

Oil cleanser can make break him out

It’s a hit or miss

I’d just recommend something like CeraVe for now until he figures out his exact skin type

true, different skin types call for different routines and products. the above is what works for me yea

Excessive sugar intake can also cause it. You might want to try washing it once a day instead of twice for a while too. Sometimes excessively drying out the oils in your face can also cause you to outbreak. Get some face lotion too if u don't already have it.

the bare minimum is cleanser into moisturizer & sunscreen. add a retinoid & serum if you aren't clearing up after a decent while (don't change routine until a few weeks pass MINIMUM)
if you want the best results long-term what archetype said in #20 is pretty much what you want

I can only do the first two, because when I use cleansers my face randomly breaks out

Your skin can breakout after getting dry just as easily as if you sweat a lot and don't practice hygiene after exercise or whatever. Maybe just do the facewash once a day and add some of these other suggestions into a routine.

That makes sense since my skin is dry not oily

because of products? if so the anua toner and the anua heartleaf cleanser foam should be VERY neutral for all skin types avoiding breakouts

A lot of these answers are decently good, but it’s different for everyone and the real answer is just it depends

Do you consume a lot of diary or sugar?

Is your face oily or dry?

Do you sweat a lot?

How often do you shave?

If you shave what type of razor and how often are you changing blades?

Skincare requires a lot of personal learning based on what you have tbh, some of these suggestions above can cause you to break out more tbh…
