Well whaddya know? The team platchat ranked DEAD LAST in their power ranking have just won the masters Bangkok trophy!!!!

WE NEED TO HAVE A CONVERSATION ABOUT THESE GUYS. Have they ever been sooo right about something where people said "oh, these guys were ahead of the curve. They knew what's up". I even think they are much more often dead WRONG about something than being right. Of course, if you make a prediction of something it's bound to be wrong sometimes & hindsight is 20/20 but if you are wrong so often you gotta have some grace when you shit talk players or a team, no? Like you gotta give people/teams the benefit of the doubt and not be so arrogant in your convictions bcz really, you guys don't know any better. Yall are just yapping and I respect it cuz it's your job ig but have some humility when you call people garbage or make a player tierlist or whatever.
Also, it annoys me when platchat nerds present 'Oh, sideshow said this' as a shield to their argument. I'm like I don't fkin care. nterure4564 on reddit has been right more often about valorant than the eggman. But, instead of presenting facts and logic these people still insist as if platchat opinions give their arguments some weight.

Maybe because its how they were at the beginning of the tournament? They made the ranking before the tournament was going on???

They were not even playing worse than Trace or TL.

I think TL looked better than them at the end of their run respectively and I think Trace can be argued and should've been but that's not to say they were one of the top rated teams easily before the tourney.

Keiko was having a life patch. Overall TL weren't playing better than T1. DRX is and was a hella good time and all the matchups were competitive. The regional final was literally 3-2 and platchat ranked them worse than trace LMAO

Trace nearly 3-0ed Edg. also Edg is a better team than Drx so it makes sense to think trace had a better kickoff result than t1

To be fair, most of platchat can't really watch pacific games due to timezones.

platchat has never been 100% serious analysis, they are just content creators whose entire purpose is to create content. They get a correct prediction = content, they get it completely wrong = even more content

I know it's not but they gotta have more humility and nuance because they have been proven wrong time and time again. Players and coaches watch their podcast and feel strongly about it. Look at how many times iZu tweeted about their preds and he's like a chill guy. It definitely affected him. I must say tho, all the platchat guys are not the same. I like bren, he has nuance, He doesn't act like he knows more than everyone else.

putting them lower is better no? it means less expectations and u can prove ppl wrong easily w/o any pressure
just look at TH last year, they were put in D tier at the start and could dominate because of being rated lower

i feel like rating someone higher sure gives them a better confidence boost, but when everyone has eyes on you to do well that gives hella pressure on your team to perform

i mean, they didn't look THAT good within their own region -- losing to DRX in the grand finals and coming in from the lowers really does deal a blow to how favoured you are internationally, especially if APAC was considered a weak region. If I told you that EDG would be knocked out by T1 in the lower finals 3-1 prior to Bangkok, or even during the swiss stage, you'd probably never believe me.

i'd like to say they improved overall throughout the bangkok and -carpe +sylvan made all the difference (sylvan averaging 20 assists a map)

but u know, it's just predictions -- you're not bound to be correct 100% of the time.

That's not the point. 'predictions' is just one example, you know how they talk about teams or players. They act like some people are absolute shitters and way too aggressive in their convictions. You gotta be humbler if you are WRONG so often.

like half the show is the entertainment factor of them not being humble and arguing with each other

Most of the time they only criticize the team as a whole, and when they do call out specific people for poor performances they aren't actually that harsh about it. They don't act like some people are "absolute shitters" and I have no idea where you got this idea.

Let the analysts be a little bit candid. It's refreshing. You're giving way to much special care to the players. They're public figures, they can take some criticism on their gameplay.

tbf i don't think anyone actually takes their rankings too seriously. i mean if you actually do when people like bren have a say in they're rankings it's on you

  1. T1 looked shaky in APAC kickoff and didn't start leveling up until about the end of swiss stage
  2. They still got 5/8 placements right for their power rankings. Putting the winner in last is pretty egregious, but the rest was actually solid predictions

"Also, it annoys me when platchat nerds present 'Oh, sideshow said this' as a shield to their argument." Has anyone ever actually said anything like this? Most of the posts I see are always clowning on plat chat preds on this site.

They're podcast is made to be entertaining and talk about the game they are invested in. They've always openly said not to take their predictions or power rankings too seriously and that it will all probably be wrong. They also often call each other stupid for wrong takes like this. And, I mean, if you don't judge teams based on what you analyze or see in the moment then what is even the fucking point of predicting?

Also, we forget that Trace was literally in 7th but Bren single-handedly put them in 5th because they decided to let him have a free spot change because he got something right in the past.

have to say they did kind of ranked it based on the results they saw but definitely t1 should be A tier. maybe they didnt do well in gf apac but does it matter if they can turn over the game and learn their mistakes against the teams. t1 played their first match against each teams in bkk with a loss and they used that to turn the table and won. everyone’s pickems were messed up. but still, platchat shouldve given some thoughts of the teams potential not just on results
