With a Duelist improvement (unless TVirusLuke becomes like Spitfires from last year and improves crazy), DRG could be a top 3 Chinese team. Team has good potential and could shoot for the stars with some cracked young star duelist (Spring could be decent, GuanG could be a good duelist pickup too). They could be great! (Until the local migrant Flex1n decides it's time to sign for IMay or Rare Atom or some other team)

I'd love to be an advocate for whzy but sadly Billy have decided to game despite NRG's eye-gouging loss to C9.

It's regrettable but true, Billy is gaming although their American counterparts NRG isn't performing.

Yeah I love Luke, he's the reason DRG is in vct in the first place, but he's been way too inconsistent for way too long. It's unfortunately probably his time

I love him too, he's got really high highs as well as decent game sense and can somewhat dictate play when he's in the groove. Sadly, DRG should probably look for a younger (maybe not more consistent, but has room to grow), cracked duelist from China (Luke is 25).

As much as I want to say yes, Luke is probably the best that DRG can have, considering they are an ascension team and probably don't have the most money.

Meanwhile, XLG has a rich millionaire backing it. That ascension team was able to get a much bigger sponsor after they won ascension The fact that DRG signed Spirit (academy player) and Tyloo still owns Flexing's contract (aka why BLG didn't keep Flexing, their budget went to Whyz and the league team, aka why Flexing was only signed last minute) makes financial sense to keep Luke.

SpiritZ1 might be an academy player, but he's damn good. Also, weren't they literally offering Vo0kashu triple other players' wages? I'm sure the wages aren't low. Also, I bet they can find a damn good CN ranked demon for duelist on relatively cheap. They don't need someone established, but someone exciting.

Vo0kahu taking the budget probably makes the money pool even smaller for them. It's also kinda risky for them, considering DRG mostly comms in English if I remember correctly. Both Luke and Nicc can both speak English and understand it I think?

Yeah, but here's the thing, Vo0kashu didn't take the offer, meaning they probably did, and still do have some budget. If anything, dropping TZH who was probably on a good salary because he had previously played for FPX, likely created more room in the budget.

TvirusLuke doesn't need to improve to an insane degree. once they learn defaulting and midrounding it's fucking over

He's 25, and not going to get any younger. I really do like him but it could be time to look at some ranked demons (sadly they might not make champs so they could be going down to T2, where fortunately, the aforementioned potential ranked demon could frag out crazily).

I feel like you're underselling how much already existing firepower they have. Luke might be a weak link compared to everyone else in consistency but their biggest contributor to losing/not winning as dominantly as their player quality should indicate is their over reliance on set plays and protocols. Don't get me wrong they're SUPER drilled but that's not gonna matter if they can't adjust after a timeout against higher caliber teams

I agree! They're a great team, and he has great chemistry with them no doubt. He also entries quite well, creates a lot of space on site, and is a general menace with his positioning. I simply think that the Chinese ranked scene can be taken advantage of, as there is nothing scarier than some unknown duelist coming onto a team and wiping the floor with just about everybody. Once again, I do enjoy Luke's gameplay.

I don't see how age has anything to do with it. Isn't t3xture like 27? Duelists with high ceilings and inconsistent performances usually just need strong coaching and training to lift their floor up. It's the killer duelist intuition that you can't really learn, but I don't think that's his problem.

You leave 1t and the coaching team out of this!
