fill me in on the lore why does everyone hate them
Basically
It all started back in the days
SkRossi was just coming up. He was this "young prodigy" from India and Indians got so hyped watching him beat trash ass teams from the South Asia region they started shit talking
They beefed with a shit ton of pros about how SkRossi is better than them
They spammed how SkRossi is this insane level player
Then it all got away when they actually faced good teams
But SkRossi is gone, maybe they should stop hating on the team now right?
Nah
The CEO made unreasonable promises
And then the people just got sick of him
At the same time, Indians got sick of his bullshit too for not having Indian players
Also it's an Indian org
There will always be hate towards Indians online :)
Tldr:
No Indians
Indian org
Fake promises
Toxic fans
But this year, I think only Indians hate them for not having Indians on the team. Everyone else is probably just trolling and all. Which btw, I think is very valid to not have Indians on the team, since they held an open trial. You can't be on a team with open trials, you don't deserve to be there in the first place.
I, as a French, hate them for not having Indian player. They condemn a full region in the long term, not giving Indian player time in tier 1 to progress and make experience of this Indian player trickle down on the rest of the scene because they are afraid of having 0-11, yes this is a risk, especially the first year, but god this is thinking shortermwise, and I hate people that doesnt care about long term. Tanking few years to let Valorant grow in India is totally worth it.
Just imagine the effect that can have on Indian scene if you show that 5 Indian player can have a full salary in tier 1, that if you are good enough to be top 5 of India you can have a salary... Stop doing an inferiority complex, the only reason India is far worse than every other region is that they don't have esport culture, and you will not develop an esport culture by going on import route
Global esport was choosing to develop esport in India, and they are not doing this job, I can defend almost every T1 org and explain why I think they deserve T1 (Yes, even MIBR and C9), but GE is the only team I want genuinely be replaced by another Indian team, if Riot wanted another SEA team, they should have just pick another SEA team that proved themselves like BOOM. And god Oceania died for India to have a slot, Oceania have 5 players that have the T1 level as we can see in China (Maybe not top T1, but still T1).
GE is a barrier to the development of Val esport everywhere in the world.
It's not even about having an inferiority complex
It's just what I have seen for these past years
Indian players don't care about the gameplay (not everyone but most part)
Give them salary and they are okay with being mediocre all their life
Look at the region stats
The best South Asian player is never an Indian
It's either Mongol or Kazakh or Pinoy
You have these players come in and just tear the region apart
Now you can definately say it is due to the lack of an eSports culture but for any player, no matter how bad they are, to bring them into tier 1, they need to be some amount of good.
A stat I have always liked is SkRossi in Ascensions. He was ranked top 10 in SA and there was a discrepancy of +20 or above in the rankings when he played against these top Ascensions teams which btw, get beaten away by most tier 1 teams in the season (not saying off season here)
So yea, you need to grow these players but you can't grow someone who doesn't want to grow. That is the main problem with Indian players. A lack of drive. They are okay with being in these big orgs and getting huge paychecks and being settled for life.
I hate GE as much as everyone else but I feel like people give them too much shit for things like these.
Also for instance, the GE trials. Open trials yes? They are asking you to come in and show them why you are worth it. How many people come? 10 + Lightningfast.
It's crazy how much drive these players actually lack.
Show up to open trials. People can't get in your home and log into your valorant account and make you appear for your trials.
More than 100 people appeared for closed trials and how many Indians? 10. Out of them only Venka and Techno made it a bit far that too got eliminated way before the last round.
Sure I would love an all Indian team, but just picking up randoms isn't it.
"Give them salary and they are okay with being mediocre all their life" If they are mediocre they will be replaced by someone with more motivation, we can find 5 player that "want to grow" in full india
Also, amount of good will come after some time in Tier1.
The story about the 10 Indian player that go to trial is intresting I have to say, to me it can have other exemple than juste "They are lazy"
I trust Indian player, I'm fully sure India willbe one way or another the future of the world in 10 years because on how big the country is, and how fast the country is and that they might peak in 2060 becoming more populated than Europe and Americas united. As nobody trust China at start of esport we not trust India for the future, but demographics and economical projection doesnt lie, India will be the next big thing, and we can develop in advance to be sure Valorant will also be carried by India, or we can do nothing and let India boom on a game that isn't out yet, and wee be release in few years when India will peak and be over dominant on that game, giving visibility to that game instead of Val
watch the GE video where they say why they don't pick indian players ....
And for your information only 10 or 12 people registered for GE open tryout and out of just 7 to 8 came to actual tryout so how do you expect them to make the team of those 7 players whereas lots of other good talent registered ... See some facts before speaking ..
Dont hesitate if you have the link
I've just found that https://x.com/Locati0ns/status/1869074346616217770 (India going full 5G this year), is that true ? If it is, do you think it can be kinda game changers for the future.
I really don't understand why so few indian took this opportunity, how do you explain only so few. "Laziness" doesnt sound enough to justify it :/
I mean if we did that I wouldn't complain, but currently we don't need anyone as we have a good starting 5.
Oceania has alot of talent in the T1-T2 that I definitely think could hang if given the opportunity, look at Autumn on FPX, hell even Maple on CCG in China and Wronski on GE in 2023 was good, shame he retired. I'm just saying they have talent there and unfortunately beyond pacific ascension they hardly get any international competition (afaik) since they got tossed aside by APAC and are too far to be considered for the Americas like it was with Soniqs in the open circuit days.
for your kind information Autumn was found by an indian team named GodsRain then he goes and be the best in china
another good player/coatch found by Indian scence is Hovya the coach of xlg china acersion.. team played in indian org RGE
another one is Dos9 who is now on BOOM eports and was on RNT a good team...
And if you still feel bad tell your team to have an OCE challengers team .. everyone come here and give there opion but no team is ready to give OCE platers chances ..
i also accept that PRX is good in apac but is it enough for them people are rating them so highly but when it come to crucial times they fumble so either you are a champion or not a champion .. if you not winning the championship then qualifying for big international event doesn't make more of a sense especially for team of the capability of PRX
Not at all. GE has spent over $1 million to set up a basecamp in Korea, created an academy team, participated in and hosted offseason competitions, and is doing a lot of other things to expand their fan base. They welcomed Indians to tryout, but not many applied, and none of them were good enough for the tier 1 level anyway.
GE's fault is only one. They're just spending the money wrong.
But even that's not completely their fault.
Do you think the big free agent players, buzz, meteor, davai (rumored) would have wanted to go to GE? Never. They have no choice but to spend money on uncertain players.
