Live crowds this year have been absolute dogshit at international events.
Masters Madrid, Sentinels fans flooded the venue and ruined every good play made by teams against them.
Masters Shanghai, the crowd literally rooted against GENG the whole tournament and for Chinese teams for their entire duration in the bracket. (5 days.) Everyone else got pattycake cheers.
Now, in comes Champions Seoul, the biggest event of the year, will the problem be fixed?
Probably NOT.
Why?
Because so far, Sentinels look likely to qualify despite them being mid as fuck after Kickoff. Not to mention Fnatic also prone to qualifying. (The stupidity of the championship points system can be its own thread)
Both of these teams are by far the worst offenders for having the most toxic fanbase. You can argue that other teams have this problem; (For example, 100T.) however, said fanbases come nowhere near the level of toxicity they show towards their own team. These "fans" are literally just bipolar wrecks that find the smallest "mistakes" to point out (Which, most of the time, aren't actually mistakes.) when their team loses, and whenever their team wins they just glaze the fuck out of whoever had the most flashy play that round from their team.
Not only does this lead to many sick plays having crowd reactions like: "...", it also makes the online live chat utterly unusable due to how many visceral nincompoops spam the chat with unrelated garbage, or just flat out dumb shit. There are only so many times you can see "when does SEN play" and "[Insert player here] is so bad" before you wish that the chat mods would pull a 2022 VCT NA Challengers and just make the live chat emote only. Just look at yesterday's match, SEN vs 100T, and tell me the crowd wasn't dogshit.
TL:DR, The crowds & live chat for the whole 2024 VCT are absolutely botched due to toxic cringe SEN and Fnatic "fans"
I would've put LOUD in here but they haven't made jack shit soooo
