FNATIC introduce Elmapuddy as head coach

FNATIC FNATIC Europe Rank #6 crashies Austin Roberts Boaster Jake Howlett kaajak Kajetan Haremski Chronicle Timofey Khromov Alfajer Emir Ali Beder have announced Chris "Elmapuddy" Tebbit, formerly of Gen.G Gen.G Korea Rank #1 Foxy9 Jung Jae-sung (정재성) t3xture Kim Na-ra (김나라) Munchkin Byeon Sang-beom (변상범) yoman Chae Young-moon (채영문) Karon Kim Won-tae (김원태) , as their new head coach. He will step into Jacob "Mini" Harris's role.

Elmapuddy has only represented Gen.G since moving over from CS:GO. He first led the organization's NA project in late 2021 and 2022, and was kept on to oversee the team's move to and rebuild in the Pacific region, where they were accepted as a VCT Partner.

After two last-minute moves, Gen.G came into the VCT Pacific swinging and chained four wins that put them tied for first at the league's halfway mark. Elmapuddy's men slowly slipped from there, dropping their next six matches in a row, winning just three matches for the rest of the year. Gen.G placed fourth in the VCT Pacific playoffs and third in the LCQ.

In September, Gen.G revealed plans for a full rebuild of the roster and let all of its members but Kim "Meteor" Tae-oh (김태오) go. At the time, Elmapuddy said on X it "didn't make sense" to re-sign and put himself on the market as an unrestricted free agent.

Elmapuddy will fill the shoes of mini, who decided not to re-sign with FNATIC heading into 2024 "in search for a better work-life balance." The former head coach of the best team of 2023 was a key piece in FNATIC's rebuilds, often praised for his scouting.

At the time of mini's announcement, he also revealed conversations were continuing with FNATIC to allow him to remain on the squad under a different role. While mini hasn't publicly commentated on these conversations, Team Director Colin "CoJo" Johnson unveiled yesterday that the next assistant coach is open to public applications.

idk if you watch the nba or not but gregg popovich is like the best coach but his record is ass because the Players aren’t the best and execute what is taught to them.

what you can tell if a coach is good or not in val in plays book, comps , behind the scenes and what the players themselves say.

in todays time ? yes maybe not many many years ago, but it’s proven to be a + and not a - , They help with strats, comps, and mental of a team. if you don’t have a coach now you’re just lacking and losing

take sentinels 2022… team had horrible calls and comps were ass you can blame it on shaz but he was begging for them to sign a coach to help him because it puts a lot on brain power and mental for 1’player to do so much for a team. so a coach is needed.

it depends. Some coaches put A LOT in a team and contribute the most to team's results, like ENGH or mini, they are basically the core of a team. And some dont do as much or change smth a lot, so it really depends on the coach ur taking.

As a GenG fan, I think Elma was always a really strong coach, but he never had the players that were able to execute his vision. I think he was close to being able to show his coaching skills in the Pacific league, but the language barrier held him back. I think he'll do really well at fnatic with a strong igl and players, although maybe not as well as Mini who is one of the best coaches ever.

great coach, has a great stategic style. I felt his work was key for geng rise, but the performances of players fell at the end of the season. Still lacks a leader and a motivator as coach, not a strategic one, cuz u have boaster for that. Hope im wrong, but thats what is lacking for winning it all.

I mean the comps fnatic played all year were mostly made by Anderzz and Boaster created the majority of their strats. Not to say that mini did nothing, but as long as Elmapuddy gets along with Boaster I think they'll be fine.

So far all their personnel decisions have been pretty much flawless.

I feel that they picked him up because GenG at the start of the year did not have the best player quality (Meteor and King excluded) but they were winning because they had good strategy and protocols while their players were at their peak. But when the player quality slipped they could not perform to the level of their strategies. But when you have the player quality of FNATIC and Boaster to help out. I feel this could be a really good pickup.
