Franchising sucks (Rant)

Franchising is supposed to be more profitable for orgs to invest but I think I speak for everybody when I say this shit is BUNS.

Nothing exciting ever happens(imagine a tier 2 team doing a ITB Paris Major run?), same rosters(orgs too pussy to invest in many tier 2 players so recycle the same garbage players like b0tster) so regions start falling behind (look at Lol), no team ever looks consistent and win and lose like flipping a coin.

Yeah CS clears this mickey mouse pickled semen doo doo.

rosters change all the time lol, eg won with t2/3 players, what region has fell behind? Teams being inconsistent is good, it means theres no stale astralis era

this looks like regurgitated echo chamber autism to get upvotes

franchising is good yall just expect a 3 year old esport scene to be as developed as a 15 year old one

stop being weird

That's when the t2 scene was doing alright. If t2 continues to decline we will stop seeing exciting new talent coming out of it because the players will be playing games with more opportunities.

t2 isnt unprofitable bc of franchising tho, two separate things

It kind of is though. No t2 team will ever play at the highest level of competition ever unless they ascend. This task is very hard to achieve as there is 4 total teams that ascend a year. Where hopefully they can start building a fan base and making money through riot. But it's just so hard to to ascend that teams are giving up rather than risk it again and again just to have their players they developed be poached into tier 1. For many orgs the price is too much.

if m8 doesnt qualify to champs 2 teams will ascend

And that's the other thing you spend 3 years paying t2 players to be sent back to t2 after one season of being in t1 because you didn't make it to champs or beat the other t2 team or whatever the condition is. Look I'm not saying that you aren't correct. The reality is orgs are, not maybe, they are leaving t2 leaving the players without support.

but that's just a reality of franchising

I would argue that an astralis era has done more good than bad for cs, 2019 scene has been incredibly good before covid

regions start falling behind

ngl the reason why other leagues in LoL is falling behind isn't because of franchising. Ranting about franchising is bad won't change the fact that it does/did more good than harm to orgs. No team looking consistent is the nature of the game. Map pool changing every now and then with agent buff/nerf and lack of rest made it hard for teams to be consistent. GENG had no rest in 2024 and everyone was just burnt out in champs.
signing the same tier 1 players rather than tier 2 players cost more money so orgs being too pussy don't make any sense and teams go through trials to pick up players.

how the fuck are teams burn out with 3 LANs in a year?

tbf it’s not just LANS tho, the top teams play the regular season + playoffs to qualify to LAN, then LAN + playoffs again in a condensed time frame while the rest of the teams barely play.

January - October = Convergence, Kickoff (groups until grand final), masters (swiss until grand final), stage 1 (league phase and grand final) , masters (swiss stage and grand final), stage 2 (league phase and grand final), and to champs.
Map pool rotation + multiple buff/nerf with scrims going on every day.
After every stage, GENG left for an international tournament (travel + scrim)

not everything is about the number of LAN events dumbass, even riot admitted that events were crammed this year which is why they are stretching the events for 2025.
too bad N0v0 could only dream of making it to the grand finals in 2024 but its MEMEA so its not surprising

lets say your geng from this year right. you start with minimal expectations and start off pretty hot in kickoff and you end up playing the maximum amount of games in kickoff and actually end up winning it. then when you go the madrid you make a super deep run and then right after have to comeback with 1 week break on a new patch and be up to your previous form so you take it a little easy during the regular season and then start showing everything youve been prepping once you get to playoffs and come second. then you win shanghai but bc you came second you had to play through all of groups as well. then its a new patch and huge pivotal agent in most of your team comps gets nerfed so now you have to reinvent yourself going into another regular season. which you do and then end up winning the whole season just to then have a map pool change into champs. obviously this example is like one of the more rare examples but if you dont get that the teams who go to every event can get burnt out having to constantly adjust then idk what to tell u.

"Nothing exciting ever happens"

Apeks beats a random turkish premier team with a bunch of 16 year olds on a historical run and then proceeds to ascend and sign Florescent. Nothing out of the ordinary here

But tbh that's the magic of tier 2 man not franchising one could argue. Such stories aren't happening with a permanently franchised teams

Are they not? I see a lot of similarities between the PCFC run and the TH run. Quite literally mirrored if you ask me

#34

That's a completely different thing and TH's run was the reason I supported them whole year long.
But I started watching Valorant in the era when 2-3 such runs leading upto every masters so I feel like we are missing out on cool stories.
You know those were days when everyone from across the world gathered to watch NA qualifiers cheering as top dogs get knocked over picking their fav underdog teams like me with Xset. It's all gone for now man and unfortunately most viewers hv no idea abt it bcz they were never there to witness it and hence feel connected to it.

I get what you mean but I think those stories are very much still there. They might have a different form but I can still very much hope PRX loses to GE and laugh cause that makes them miss champs

#37

Nah not even remotely same GE is India's biggest org , using your example imagine if PRX lost to a rampaging fancy United which makes them first Vietnamese rep in champions won't it be more fun ?? Well franchising has ensured that will never happen bcz Vietnam couldn't get a slot in franchising....

Do you think today fnatic's star igl boaster would be seen engaging and chatting in T2 Indian valorant match - nope bcz he would probably won't even know abt it but 2 years back he was there in chat randomly with us bcz back then there no tiers we were theoretically equal...

No way you’re talking about regions falling behind then bringing up CS as a positive example

There has been literally 1 non-european major winning team since 2017 in CS

Cant really compare to CS since in Val meta changes with new agents and comps etc. As long as they keep changing rosters to try and improve throughout the year, there won't be an Astralis. Every Champions winning team fluked out the year after so thats clear. But yes recycling players like Botster needs to stop in Franchise.

No, suprised a TL fan would rant about franchising they haven't made international in valorant since last champs.
