this is just another symptom of the toxic environments women in east asia (and probably the world) have to endure throughout their lives. not just in esports, but any other field of work where beauty bias is applicable, where in order to succeed, you have to look a certain way.

Smol help here... All of esports (minus the minimal $$$ they make from merch) comes from advertising budgets. The narrative is that these are the best players but once again, that's just advertising. Brands want to be associated with winners. Beauty is an aspect of that. There are two options for sponsors, attractive/personality or you're #1 or outside the range but capable of achieving it.
