even though there are 24 slots in major, while china gets 3 in val champions, that's the difference between valve and riot, valve focus on competitiveness, riot focus on money.
A region doesn’t stop playing a game because they’re bad
They’re bad because they do not play
If what we want is China to be equally good we have to give them equal opportunities and wait until they catch up. It’s not their fault that they got to the game later than everyone else. Are we gonna give up a region like China just because they haven’t developed yet? Valorant is not CS and I do not want it to be. Same with Asia in general, they just don’t have the tactical shooter base EMEA and Americas had since the beginning
I wasn't talking about Valorant. In CSGO Asia was given plenty of chances, and they fumbled them. China can't even compete with mongolian with 1/5000th of the playerbase. It's not about representation, it's about work-ethic, and Asia never had it in CSGO (and they don't have it in Valorant either, they have the biggest playerbase and they are the worst region).
Was CS launched in China at the same time it was on the rest of the world?
If no then it’s simply not a fair comparison. Just compare a pro who switches now to Valorant with one who’s been here since Beta. And now add to it the fact that no one is teaching you. It takes a long time
If yes then Ig CS failed in China. But it’s definitely not because of work ethics. You’re telling me they have the work ethic when they play LOL but they don’t when they play Valorant? And even if it was the case why would that be a reason not to give them the chance?
Yes, they don't have the tac-fps infastructure and know-how. They don't know how to work on this game. Look at what Denmark has built, they're invincible in eSports with just 1/10000th the population.
Stop being deceived by LoL, they have 5 times the population of any other shard. By far the biggest talent pool to choose from, and still dominated by Koreans, because they are, let's be honest. In other games, where they don't have a huge talent pool advantage, they're exposed even further. And now that they have the underage gaming laws, you won't see China eSports in the way you used to.
No, everybody gets what they deserve. You can't compromise competitive integrity in the name of diversity and inclusivity. Not in sports. Because sports stand for excellence in a skill, not for representation of countries, demographics.
Truly equal opportunity is when the best of the best get to play. You can't just get a free ticket to top competition, because that means you took that ticket from another more deserving player or team. It's outright discriminatory.
Bro the very moment you hand pick teams who get into franchising you have to accept the competitive integrity isn’t there. And Ik we don’t agree on this one but I think it’s the right pace
That argument it’s not about China getting slots, Ik you don’t like franchising but it’s not gonna go away so I think it’s very logic that they stay coherent to their plan.
i feel theres a big gap in csgo china teams and tier 1 teams. On the other behalf, on valorant, china teams actually can take maps of tier 1 teams, and look good with unique comps. I feel like China should compete in Pacific league, but that might kill the balance of the league. All teams other than GenG and DRX do not look that good (PRX might be the exception).
CSGO isn't the main draw in China, Crossfire is. Search Crossfire Pro League. You'll see how big it is compared to CSGO in China. Perfect World fumbled the bag.

this is from chinese search engine baidu, blue line is crossfire
Csgo fanbase is not big in china, its the csgo gambling base lmao.
Also acting like riot not caring about competition. What do you think these chinese teams are? Some farmers or milkmen. EDG is really good, and there are some talented players. They could easily have a super team by some time and have good placements, but that would require time and exposure to competition.
Also, as of right now, there arent any more than 4-5 good teams in each league. So 4 slots is more than enough for every region.
People truly love to complain. Riot e-sports will always focus on making competition global, especially if there is money to be made. If you don't like it, go watch cs go. Bitching and moaning about how a company operates is pointless. It won't change anything. If valorant blows up in china as league of legends did, then the chinese teams will be competitive sooner rather than later. If it doesn't, oh well, not a big deal.
People need to understand this about riot games as an entity. For better or worse, their main priority with the e-sports they've created isn't competitive integrity, their main priority is the ability of said e-sports to facilitate the marketing of their games to make as much $$$ as possible. That is reality and what we've seen them do for over a decade with league of legends. At the end of the day, it still leads to a pretty fucking good product for viewers(not so much for orgs in the ecosystem). Nothing will be different with valorant. Deal with it.
