Latin America and SEA had better results than NA in Champs even though they had less teams sent
so do we still consider NA as the major region along with EMEA?
or EMEA is the sole major region and other regions are fighting for the 2nd best?
CS is a little different from League. NA CS got cucked pretty hard by covid. Making a bubble in EU and taking away all tournaments and events not just in NA but every region besides EU. Orgs left because only way for their players to make money is getting them to Europe. Why a lot of people switched to Valorant because that is where the money was but now the scene is oversaturated in NA Val. Don't know why NA League turned out to just being European/Asian imports but if you want to inform me I'm all ears.
I think another thing with NA Cs and just NA in general is the mindsets. Players tend to care more about their money, egos and reputations over winning. Saw this all the time with NA Cs and now you see in NA Val. Players seem to put more focus on streaming and what not over being pro seems like. Like in EU, the pros treat their job like a 9-5. Streaming here and there. NA Val some pros be streaming full time. You can't stream full time and also be a pro. Just will never find success or consistent success.
Nah dude, I know how good Thai teams can be (could be the best country in Asia) but I think you’re overestimating the scene. Xerxia destroyed FS and 13-0’d Mith, the two other best teams in the region.
Also, correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t the NV vs X10 incredibly close? I wouldn’t consider that getting the hell beat out of them.
Just because there are 10 countries doesn't mean it has to be competitive always. We saw 13-0 matches in APAC too, with GE and NU being crushed. And speaking about competition, the better teams like PRX, XERXIA, FS and Bren/TS were consistently good last year. That's why they made it to LAN. Teams like Boom, BAAM, ONIC never got close when it mattered. It was always PRX, XERXIA(X10 C last year), TS and FS who were at the top and only they managed to qualify for the LANS.
Speaking about NA, the competition was always more diverse and close. We saw 5 different NA teams make it to LAN and none of the teams were good for the entirety of the year. SEN and V1 were good at Iceland, C9 made it to champs ahead of 100T who were favorites, Xset and Rise showed glimpses of hope towards stage 3 and LCQ and Optic were always there in the mix. In NA, I think it's unpredictable as to whose gonna make it to LAN. SEN on their day is unbeatable, C9 are no.1 in NA, TGRD are hot, V1 are looking crisp too and Optic are great as well.
Never put teams like LG,100T, XSET, NRG and Rise out of the mix too. They may not look hot at the moment but they may show their real game if they qualify for playoffs. No team in NA is out until it's actually over. This is the main reason you love NA valorant.
EMEA on the other hand is ahead of NA but not by a huge margin because the game keeps evolving. The team that adapts to the meta is no.1 in this game, and you have to play well on the matchday. With EMEA there is no excitement in the sense that 2 or 3 of the big 4 ( Gambit, Acend, Liquid and Fnatic) are going to make it to LAN anyways. Throw in FPX, G2 and Guild and no other team can beat these 7 in the entirety of EMEA unless there is a miracle.
That's why imports from other countries won't make a team into a champion team or something unless that player is a mechanical god. NA will always be 2nd best behind EMEA in a tourney but I can assure you that an NA team will always be in a final and that Champions is a one-off.
I mean, NA is the only other region to make a final of an international tournament. Sentinels won Iceland and Envy made the Finals of Masters 3. The only reason this is even an argument is because NA underperformed expectations in 1 tournament where minor regions overperformed expectations, but they still didn't reach the levels that NA has previously.
i would say na is still "major" in the sense that it's the region with the most orgs competing for slots, and in general i think the average skill ratings of the upper na teams is better then most other regions, it's just most of the minor regions have a team or two that can go beyond internationally
They are still major, but i Can trully see other regions beating them as APAC, LATAM, BR and ETC.
I Can see a VK, NIP, Furia, KRU, Loud, Xerxia, DRX and etc beating down top 5 NA Teams. The only one that i don't see It in that way is Cloud9. They are different from other Teams.
If Sentinels faced Someone in the state that they are today i Can see they having the same fate as Envy.
ofc lol, NA is still the only region with quality of teams and players comparable to EMEA, if we compare purely regions and not teams, latam which had a team in semifinals and a couple rounds away from finals is easily the worst region atm, the only have 2 good teams
1- EMEA
(big gap, imo EMEA has a shit ton of insane teams and even t2-3 teams play proper valorant)
2- NA
(big gap but not as big as the one above)
3- Brazil
4- SEA
(GIGA GAP)
5- LATAM/KOREA
(GIGA GIGA GIGA GAP)
6- Anime
