No baiting or trolling, just wanted to ask how everyone genuinely thought of the G2 vs T1 series. What led to G2's downfall?

And how did T1 getting back Sylvan change everything? Was carpe actually holding them back by that much? From a team standpoint

t1 got some good clutches at the end leading to G2 feeling to much pressure and they lost

sylvan is really good at manipulating the map, he geniunely makes up for stax's subpar calling because he gives T1 such a huge advantage in map control

Carpe just was standing near G2's camp and hence G2 became a victim of his 2nd place curse on top of their own second place curse

Faker was the one communicating with T1 during the timeouts

Let's focus on map 5, since that was the deciding map, specifically the first half. The first half was so important that JoshRT used both timeouts.

He used his last timeout for the last round of the half. If G2 had won that round, and the 2nd half played out the way we saw, G2 would have reached 13 rounds in regulation.

But G2 did not win that round. And that round embodied G2's problems on the map, specifically on offense.

G2's comp simply does not have a strong B execute. That's the limitation of Chamber and vyse. So without ults online, the comp struggles to take B.

T1 knew this, and they always leaned towards A, using either aggressive kj turret positioning or Izu with his tp taking aggressive space on the B side, to enable the rest of T1 to lean A.

T1's comp has great retake potential. Neon with her wall and sliding in, Izu with flashes, Stax with sova util.

On the last round of the first half, Izu was aggresive in B main, and that allowed the rest of T1 to already be on A and to spam the smokes during the execute and get kills.

Imo JoshRT could've just saved his timeout for defense half. Clearly he had faith that the team can comeback on defense and he was right. But then they choked starting from 12 9. If JoshRT kept his 2nd timeout he could've intervened before G2 started to choke real bad

No I agree with the JoshRT timeout I dont think it was a mistake-think of it this way with no hindsight if they lose that round then the score is 8-4 and if you lose pistol its 10-4, from there you have to not only reset strats, but mental as well as it is much harder to see a comeback. If the timeout is called and they win the score is 7-5 and if you lose pistol then the score is 9-5 and you are still in it. For any other team they would still save the timeout but JoshRT was confident in G2s double senti defense side which was the main reason they were 5-0 on pearl till that point

and let me remind you-they did not need a timeout, they came back from 8-4 to make it to OT so clearly the defense side was not the issue-would OT maybe be avoided if he had a timeout? we will never know but what we do know is that without the timeout G2 was able to win the 8 rounds they needed to take it to 12 where they got a timeout back for OT

Your take is 100% valid, but i think the point is that he knew G2 could get 8 rounds on defense, but dominating with 9 rounds against a double duelist comp is hard, so I'm not going to fault him too harshly for that.

The real issue is the comp's weakness on attack. They needed to default more and show more B main presence so that T1 wouldn't stack A so much, but they didn't do that almost at all.

Carpe was not holding them back, but Sylvan was a very different player and the one that T1 needed. Sylvan was amazing with util having the most assits the whole tourney, and he was the vibe man as well, lifting t1s spirits along with Stax-Carpe was the sub for a reason he brings a lot to the team but he is more valuble of the stage-also Sylvan is just him he got a 1v5 ffs

As for the match, It was less of G2 making mistakes-tho they did make them-but more of T1 playing very well.

Lotus-
G2 perpared extremly well for this map, countering the sova/iso combos and shutting down this comp-this comp itself was never a top pick for a reason which is why T1 is the only one running it, G2 just picked up on its weakness and capatalized

Haven-
This is one of G2s worst maps and it showed, they struggled a lot with the single yoru as jaw was getting shit down often, this map was T1 close due to how well G2 still is, but the solo yoru hurt them in the long run

Abyss-
This map is very intresting and where Autumns coaching really shined, he is known as the "Chamber consuer" and it showed in his amazing counters on the attack half where he completly shut down Leaf-the Reyna was used to blind and near sight the op from far war, the fade used their prowlers and other abilties to clear angles where the chamber could have been, the Jett was used to updraft and break the chambers crosshair placement, and the tejo (the best part of this comp) was used to send mollys wherever Chamber tpd (and they were almost always accurate). T1 had a complete read on the attack half, and forced leaf to play passive angles on site. What fucked them up was their defense side-but their comp was never meant to do well on that side-G2 pulled through on the attack taking advanatdge in the gaps in T1s comp and won on the attack side

Split-
This map was very close as well, and had T1 making mistakes in the first half and their players having huge rounds in the 2nd-G2 also made mistakes that cost them crucial rounds (most prominetly Meteors viper ace in the pit). T1 just seemed to have a read on G2s attack, and were consitently holding the most info on defence which led to them taking it to OT-G2 similarly shined on defense completely shutting down Buzz to where he was a non factor in the game-they managed to get rid of T1s dive duelist easily which led the rest of the team being in weaker spots each round.

Pearl-
This map, like many of the others was decided by defense side. T1 defense was extermly good, shutting down G2 constantly and taking advatandge of their double duelist comp to hold off angles and reclear spaces easily-with G2 running double senti they had less info around the map and with no Tejo Meteors kj got a lot of value. On G2s defense they managed to bring it back relying on their double senti comp to completely shut down T1s double duelist comp, and the rounds T1 did win were due to mistakes on G2s part or hero plays,
