is it like nations world cup with team USA and team Brasil and shit like that? or is it like a major with orgs? didnt really followed it on other games
Nobody other than delusional politics obsessed snobs care about this issue. Expecting a company like Riot, or any company to take a moral standpoint is hilarious.
Do you think Riot is your local mom and pop shop that will stand beside your dumb protest every 2 months because there is literally nothing else going on in your life?
i think the issue goes beyond politics. if we are writing off injustices as "politics", then everything will keep falling apart as the world turns a blind eye. getting callous about this kind of stuff will eventually spell utter disaster if it doesn't stop soon. and tbh, i dont think anyone expects a corporation to do the right thing without public pressure. there is only so much one person can do, but if more of us talk and discuss it, it might wake more people up on the reality of the situation; that it is up to us, the fans and enjoyers of the corporation (in this case riot) to apply that pressure which will in turn hopefully influence the actions of people at the top. if we normalize this, it's over.
This is not the slippery slope you think it is. Grassroots campaigns for industry-wide systemic issues like this will never be useful. It will always, every single time, be a performative gesture that has zero influence on the system structure. This can only ever be solved by institutional reforms, not by a small scale public outcry every week until people naturally forget about it because realistically it doesn't affect them.
As sad as it sounds, it doesn't affect me or anyone around me so I do not care about their issues. And when it starts getting close to affecting me, I will start caring about it.
So don't ask people to join your Johnny Silverhand crusade every month unless something actually major happens such as corporations nearing the point of no return or some sort of existential threats to humanity etc. If that happens, I will happily become Mooda and blow up any building you ask me to blow up. Until then, I do not care.
this wont make esports grow, in fact it does the opposite, especially for the FGC but also to every other community
makes all other grassroots tournaments stupid to waste money to go to when you could take a punt at $1million instead which lowers the competition and lowers how much new players can learn, leading to worse competition overall
also nobody gives a shit about the tournaments other than people watching in other countries, every clip of the crowd I see is the same as the saudi football league, tonnes of open seats that are never going to be filled because no one actually cares
EWC is a plague to the esports community
