how does cs have so many massive tournaments

it seems there a massive tournament like every month

like huge tournaments with prize pools and viewerships equal to VCT masters and champions

Katowice just ended and theres a 1.25 million dollar tournament in romania then like a month after theres another 1.25 million dollar tournament in romania again

and theres like 4 other 400k-600k tournaments in the next few months, there was also like 4 huge cs events just in the past like 4 months

when will val become like this since rn its mainly just riot organising 3 internationals a year and thats it

its up to riot to accept tourney org's request and they are very strict with it afaik

them being control freaks over pro scene is killing t2 rn

cs is an open circuit. valve let other companies run tournaments. riot only lets themselves running it for now

they accept that orgs have these sponsors, but they can't show these sponsorships in vct tournaments
also riot themselves aren't taking these sponsorships for official tournaments

because valve isnt a control freak over their esports like riot is. they just allow other TOs to come in and organize the tournaments. the only ones valve pays for is the majors which are directly sponsored by them and we have 2 of those a year.

can u pls explain which ones are majors and which ones are like not?

on liquipedia it shows soooo many S tier tournaments which ones actually matter and people care about like vct masters and champions

and which organizer hosts cologne and katowice yearly and which organizer hosts the majors?

Majors basically the champs of cs. 2 of them every year

IEM Katowice/Cologne considered very elite close to the majors because of the history behind them

the TO that hosts the tournament is decided by valve every year. the last major was hosted by Perfect World (chinese TO) in Shanghai and the next major will be hosted by Blast in Austin, Texas. but usually majors will be hosted by either ESL, Blast or PGL

all IEM (intel extreme masters) are ESL events

my rankings for events this year imo, some may not agree but i think most will
Majors
IEM KAtowice/Cologne
other IEMs, PGL events and EWC
all blast events and pro league
micky mouse t2 tournaments with insane prize pools like yalla compass, thunderpick, fissure playground (betboom dacha) and skyesports

in val terms basically the majors are champs, Katowice/Cologne like the 2nd masters and rest of IEMs, PGL and EWC are like the first masters (IMO)

no monopoly over tournament organization and then capitalism doing its magic fueled by gambling money and cs in general being an infinite money glitch for orgs who make the major thanks to stickers so they amounts of cash that the esport moves is crazy

Even with kickoff i dont have time & energy to watch all the games
6 big event a year is already the ideal numbers
