RIOT China Korea come

You guys honestly don't need your own "12 Team" Region. That's truly foul and absurd.
Give South Korea, the more COMPETITIVE region it's 12 teams instead - they're more deserving of it. China only has 2/12 good teams lets all be honest here.
Let the weaker Chinese VCT teams compete with APAC. Test it. Bet they won't even do well.

If you compare Korea competitive vs. China competitive, Korea definitely has more stronger teams and players and potential. They deserve more of a 12 team region compared to China.

Point/TLDR: Korea deserves more space and teams for higher competitive Tier2 players on the rise, whereas China's low level Tier 1 teams (besides EDG + Trace, 2/12 Teams) are just there in the scene for the "more population/more money" for Riot.

Its true EDG won Champs but both 2nd places from China goes dead last at Masters last year:

Hmm kinda agreeable but just cause south korea has so many good players doesn't mean it's gonna be enough to produce good players enough to fill 8 more entire team spots for their own region, besides if they withdraw of Pacific then it's kinda ass as riot loses a place for their matches as SEA isn't as good as korea while also the pacific level of competition goes down and the scheduling problems happen as well as international events number of teams problems and also I think china also has like 4-5 good teams and not 2

"Hmm kinda agreeable but just cause south korea has so many good players doesn't mean it's gonna be enough to produce good players enough to fill 8 more entire team spots for their own region"

The point is actually that Korea has more Tier 2 potential players who are highly competitive and really good and deserves a spot on Tier 1 teams. They'll be more appreciated to watch and see and grow into stronger teams and players instead of these weak Tier 1 Chinese teams in VCT.

It’s okay bro pacific is Korea playground anyways. No need for their own region

korea has stronger teams because they had 2 extra years on china. china got their first trophy way faster than korea did

Yeah cause edg is on there , otherwise as a region korea is way more Powerful

Lets not say "China". Just use "EDG" only, and they've been around for awhile.

edg players played just as long as most val pros. People forget but chinese pros had access to val with vpn since 2021. Not just edg btw

Yeah but there was and still is a lack of good development staff in CN due to size of the scene

yep I agree, china needs like 1-2 more years before people truly see how scary they can be, but man trace looks crazy good, do you think they can beat NA or EU teams at bangkok? I think people are really sleeping on the chinese teams again especially with tejo in play

EDG can definitely win against any team at Bangkok, but I can't be certain based off solely their regional results. Trace probably wouldn't be favorites in a clash against a team from another region but they still shouldn't be underestimated.

you do know that Vision Strikers had tournaments with Chinese teams in 2020 right?

#40

Come on still Korea and any other region had way more advantages and opportunities from the beginning. China had no game till 2023 which obviously effected the growth of talents and had no competitive scene too.

did i say anything about that? i just listed a fact and thats it. F4Q scrimmed with a CN team before 2023. They were active, thats all i was saying mate.

Honestly won't be surprised if Trace gets last place at Bangkok Masters, like FPX DRG BLG last year.

China's player population and competitive popularity is warranted enough for them to have their own scene. It is by far the most thorough T2 and T3 system on top of their T1 league. To consolidate them is to eliminate their potential population.

Korea is reaching that level, but I assume if it does happen, it'll be down the line since remove KR, a hypothetical Japan + SEA league needs a new home and it needs time to set up. And even that is a ridiculously improbable situation.

"China's player population and competitive popularity is warranted enough for them to have their own scene"
Guess its ultimately all about the $ at the end for RIOT rather than peek competition at higher levels.

They are still a business. But even that isn't the point I brought it up. Competition is still paramount, but if you kill the entirety of the CN scene (which minds you, took 3 years of underground competition and another year of limbo because VCT CN wasn't set up,) it'll be bad for both the investors and the players.

Apples and oranges when comparing the situation with Korea and APAC as a whole, but you just can't deny them of their chance.

Also, Valorant is competing with Crossfire as the hegemony of competitive FPS there.

Bro thinks a private company owned by Chinese company cares about peak competition lol. Yes they sort of care about competition but that's only cause of potential money. eSports is business lol.

You have any team besides EDG > DRX T1 GENG NongShim?

I actually think trace is better than all of them. And I think xlg is extremely underrated can see them beating Geng and NS. BLG is inconsistent and still questionable depends on the day.

He's saying your fixation on competitveness is short sighted and brings down Riot's Valorant division sooner or later.

Riot still relies a lot on Chinese money, you'd think riot would cut off their main revenue?

#23
Shadow_Monarch
0
Frags
+

Yes I understand. If it wasn't for the money factor, you think China would still have 12 Tier 1 teams? If you go by that logic, North America should just be its own region since they also provide a lot of revenue and can easily have 12 Top Tier 1 Teams with way more talent than China.

#24
IonlywatchvcjXD

That just means Chinese revenue are big enough to justify a separate region.

#26

Yes we're aware of that. Sadly competition is faltered because of "more population, more money".

just separate APAC to pieces. its too big to combine as one region. the result is so many talents will be underscouted

I dont think korea can create a league with 10 korean teams atm or ever maybe

#29

If they can in League, they can in the future with Valorant.

#30
gordonramsay

league has a huge hold in korean esports. Nothing comes close, asking for 10 teams from korea is a lot. They were never about quantity but quality, koreans dont care about having a lot of teams but having really great ones.

#32
Shadow_Monarch

Frags

So the possibility can also still lie within what you just said but for Valorant as well. Valorant is still a young game, just like how League was when it first came out.

Drx
Dplus
Nongshim
Sandbox fearX
T1
GenG
SLT seongnam
That's 7 esports teams that you've probably heard of

And possibly

VEC Daejeon
GAME PT
Incheon on sl2ers
Who have company / city sponsors in t2 Korea

That's 10

If LCK teams invest,

Kwangdong freeks
Ok Brion
KT rolster
Hanhwa life

I think it's definitely possible

#34
gordonramsay

Frags

I mean korea def has the orgs to create a league but Im wondering if it is even worth it. I rather korean teams just stack up the 4-5 teams they have instead of spreading it around the whole league.

#37

i mean i don't want a 12 team KR region, its an overkill and being in pacific with other regions is way better in terms of prolonged competitiveness.

#39
Ryandr

Bruh Korea isn't anywhere near the level of Chinese eSports market. China's viewership and revenue alone is enough for it to be a separate region and eSports is business and riot will never do a loss making business. Riot and tencent don't care about how the competition is as long as it makes money
