SR and FlyQuest get a free pass into closed quals while other teams have to fight for a spot, it doesn't really make any sense really. Why didn't SR and FlyQuest have to fight through the open quals again like every other team besides the ones who were already in t2?

0/8 ragebait (they qualified through gc)

??? Average GC fan thinking everything that isn't positive towards GC is ragebait or hateful to them LOLLLLL. I'm actually just curious why they get a free pass this time. How come SR never got a free pass into closed quals when they won GC last year? So that's clearly not the reason for that lmao.

Because the esport is still young and systems change. Shocker i know.

Riot wants to boost GC teams + they are organizations which have proved they are willing to invest into the esport

This second point especially. The best possible scenario for Riot is if a group of reliable, trustworthy organizations are willing to invest into the esport. That's what's most beneficial to Riot from both an engagement standpoint (orgs have followings, and those followings mean more attention is brought into tier 2) as well as a monetary/longevity standpoint (like I said, orgs will continue to invest into the game). This is the ideal scenario for Riot, and it's the exact same reasoning as to why franchising is a thing.

that would be unfair if they were getting skill diffed but that is not the case they can compete at t3 level so they are given a free pass
I really hope they beat funhavers which will be a close game

They play and qualify through gc. They still have to beat them to qualify to tier 2

I mean most of the teams in open quals are orgless teams and less well known teams

I guess that's true but then again SR lost to orgless teams before so its giving them an advantage over other teams even if they are orgless (in the sense that if they win they will probably get an org to sign them).

if SR can beat a single team in closed they technically good enough to make it to closed... thought?

This is the same as saying Trust in Plug beat 100T so technically that means they are good enough to make it to VCT Americas

stakes-less tournament vs tourney that decides a team career. + the argument being they are the highest level of GC which they played the entire circuit and are able to compete against tournament teams hence they deserve to be there.
