im not sure if this is political, just wanted to know people's opinion
but like isn't it based on franchise owners, im pretty sure McDonald's in egypt donate revenue to Palestine so I find this boycott really strange and stupid. why would a corporation take side and lose the other side of customers, there's literally no benefit for them, also the corp doesn't own franchises.
i said this in a past thread but it’s basically just well meaning virtue signaling
people want to feel like they’re contributing to some kind of resistance against the whole genocide thing but don’t actually have the means to make real material change so they just eat less burger fry and feel like they’re good people
anyone who tries to force it on other people is cringe tho lol you are not morally superior bc you eat wendy burger instead of mcdonald burger
But don't let them know because they get mad. What's even funnier is that even though they do make money from selling food, most of McDonald's revenue comes from real state and charging fees to independent stablishment owners for letting them use their franchise. Only way for this "boycott" to be effective would be for it to be really big in most of their stablished countries for multiple years in order to reduce the amount of people wanting to use their franchise, which isn't happening because, you know, it's fucking McDonalds.
Yes it does not necessarily makes the company shut down but it does noticeable damage to their sales here in my country boycotting is fairly common and brands like pepsi are rebranding to different names with no pepsi logos just to sell products so yeah it does make a difference just not in countries like usa canada etc
Yes, Most people here did.
Me ? I rarely go to mcd, idk why its just not for everyday meal for me tbh, including KFC & many other fastfood. Its something that your mind says this is not healtyhy, like ykwim ?
After boycoting happened, its just another reason to never go there again.
News say they lose many branch because of the boycott. But their main street branch are still opened here, probably because their financial are strong And a few people still come & eat there, idrk
A boycott is when a large group of people withdraw from something (i.e. go out of their way to stop paying or supporting a specific brand, cause, or corporation) for a social or political reason. In this case, a bunch of people are boycotting McDonald's for supporting a certain side in a certain war (not gonna go into it, you can look up "mcdonalds boycott" if you're curious)
