reykjavik 2 - https://strawpoll.com/ajnE1eDmMnW

copenhagen - https://strawpoll.com/40Zm41jLMga

champs 22 - https://strawpoll.com/w4nWWeMPxnA

lock//in mvp - leo

tokyo mvp - alfajer was winning by so much i thought it was good to save space

champs 23 - demon1

madrid - zekken was winning by so much

shanghai - https://strawpoll.com/1MnwkR9m5n7

champs 24 - i think this was the only time they announced it on stage right, like immediately after? i think id accept that to be kangkang

I'm afraid this doesn't make sense anymore, it's impossible to remember well enough how everyone played. Just gonna look at who had better stats and you can do that without a poll

i know what i think, i just wanna see what others think for close ones like champs 22 or shanghai

#13

My point is it's impossible to remember the feeling we had at that time of who played the best in order to decided on those close ones. But I guess maybe it's me that has a shitty memory

yeah thats true, i wish someone did it years ago

#18

you dont have to remember every single thing to decide who is the best player. when I watched copenhagen for example, I thought of shao as the best player, so despite not currently knowing everything that shao did anymore, I will still put him as my copenhagen mvp because there is no reason for my answer to change from what it was in 2022

#58

Who you thought was the best player at the time and who played better and deserves the MVP are 2 completely different things. And in order to decide who played better you need to remember how they played

#60
GambleNats

Explain why the best player at the time on the winning team is not deserving of the MVP.

#62
Mortadelo
0
Frags
+

Very simple, if that was the case, why does this thread exist. Look who won and see who was rated higher, no need to make a poll

There is not a set criteria to decide so it is a matter subjective

#64
GambleNats
0
Frags
+

because there are different opinions on who the best player at the time was. I may think its shao, but someone else might believe its suygetsu. in berlin I think it was nats, another might think is chronicle. stats dont tell the full story

#65

Great, now we are back to my original point. Which is that at to me it's completely impossible to remember if I felt like Shao or Suygetsu played better.

I don't remember who clutched when it mattered, I don't remember if since I thought of Shao was the better player coming in I'm conditioned and Suygetsu actually was better. I can't tell if I'm biased because of what happened after.

Well unlike you most people think about who was the mvp when they watch it and it doesnt matter if they forget the specifics on why they chose the mvp but remember their original choice.

i voted yay because i care wayyy more about a game vs loud than 'zeta division' it is very close tho, both were amazing in playoffs

ig so i thought the game against LOUD was lot less close i thought OPTIC absolutely crushed them but ig not.

my votes
berlin - nats
reykjavic 2022 - yay
copenhagen - shao
champs 2022 - pancada
tokyo - alfa
madrid - zekken
shanghai - t3xture

and the only official mvp is champs 2024, who is KK

#11

2021 champs - either zeek or cned

#12

berlin - nats
champs 21 - zeek
reykjavik 22 - yay
copenhagen - shao
champs 22 - sacy (hottest take on this list)
lock/in - leo
tokyo - alfajer
champs 23 - demon1
madrid - zekken
shanghai - meteor
champs 24 - kangkang

didn't pancada win MVP in champs 22?

#17

spike.gg says pancada
liquipedia says aspas
and i think something said saadhak

that event was the main reason i made this post, ive also seen people call less or sacy mvp too

#20

i gotta give it to sacy tbh, absolutely legendary ascent performance

#21

if he didnt play like lebron on ascent (insanely close map too) they wouldve lost and there wouldve been a 5th map (icebox)

#22

same with breeze, aspas was heroic but they were down 9-12 on ascent.

i actually wonder who would’ve taken icebox 🤔

#23
catNmouse

actually crazy now that you think about it. loud was so good in their prime that there’s like 4 different mvp options because all of them had the same impact if not more

#19
GambleNats
0
Frags

nope, its a community decision. champ 22 is the most controversial year because like 4 players could be mvp.

only champs 24 has an official mvp which is kk
every other one is unofficial

shangai easily texture, nonstop insane performances.

#25

does champs 2022 have to be a loud player? yay was seen as the mvp, and even got the MVP award across ALL ESPORTS, not just one event out of the year.

yeah, if it wasnt someone from the winning team then zeek wouldnt have an mvp

#52

usually only because they remember acend from before champs. acend before zeek (and even a little after zeek) was basically cned and friends

at champs it was different

he was more impactful

i didn’t watch the game but im assuming he had a shit ton of impact

champs 22 was absolutely pancada. sacy had the best performance at finals, aspas was the superstar, saadhak was the goat support and less had some insane performances too, but pancada was loud's most regular player. he was in beast mode through all of the event specially in playoffs. absolutely legendary

suygetsu for copenhagen mvp is criminal, it was obvious to anyone with eyes that shao was the best player in the world at the time

#35
kanyefan4238173

I agree, I voted shao too

He absolutely fucked the lower and grand final. Suygetsu was amazing but more for the early games

#36

he also giga carried them through groups without suy, bro would not lose a clutch

#38
Denggysaurus

I mean suygetsu wasn't even there during the group stage and upper quarterfinals. He literally joined while FPX was in the lower bracket and then won every single series he played

#42

same bro, suygetsu didnt even play the whole tourney and my boy shao had to carry s0ider and ange0 to playoffs singlehandedly and then diffed yay on initiators at the lower final and was also the mvp of the grand final (suygetsu getting a 4k on the last round gaslighted people too much imo), dont make it seem as if i dont think suygetsu was important af but i cant simply stand this shao disrespect

KK was playing mid till the final. He was the MVP of the final, but definitely not the whole tournament.

i agree, i still think maybe chichoo should have won mvp. he was insane against leviatan which was a hugely important and close game if they lost that they go to lower final and dont get ban advantage for the final

but its officially kangkang so theres nothing to be said. it was fan voted immediately after the final so ppl got short term memory

#55

the copenhagen poll is perfect proof of how most people dont even remember the older tournaments and just go of name alone....the only reason suygetsu even got to play was cuz shao put them on his back and looked like the best player in the world by far

#44

shao doing all the dirty work only to be underappreciated because prx decided to peek suygetsu one by one like morons

Shao was clearly the best player by overall stats but anyone who saw the tourney live will remember that fpx started winning and looking like a formidable team with landing of Suygetsu in Copenhagen. It was Suygetsu who created all the magic moments which carried Fpx over the line, I don't remember many shao plays from Copenhagen but multiple Suygetsu plays are etched in my memory

liquipedia says so. but i disagree with liquipedia a few times

liquipedia says aspas, i say pancada
liquipedia says t3xture, i say meteor
liquipedia says chronicle, i agree
liquipedia says suygetsu, i say shao

idek how liquipedia come to the conclusions, but whatever it is i feel like it isnt a good representation

I agree with shao but man nats had such a crazy overall tournament you kinda have to give it to him.
