That's what Leo Faria said when they added G2 to Americas franchising after the whole Guard situation. So what changed? The original orgs weren't picked based on performance otherwise Optic would still exist.

The Bleed CEO must have fucked every riot employees spouse for this to happen.

Tbf I wish they could have just held a second ascension to give every team another go at ascension instead of just yoinking boom to join. Feels kinda like they just really wanted boom in.

Yeah but it still feels bad because they still lost the finals. Flying the top 8 from the ascension in and having them play to select the a team to replace bleed would have atleast made it not feel forced.

and apparently they were the team riot trusted to replace bleed last year if things went wrong, so they have good financial or are stable

Yes they were able to beat dsg, riddle and full sense while getting extremely close to beating spg but they still lost.

Holding another ascension tournament means every team gets a second chance not just give it to boom for being the second best team. Now they have to prove they are the second best team.

there was a losers bracket too so no fluke, boom is by every way you can measure it the second best t2 team of 2024 in APAC

absolutely no reason for riot to spend money to bring everyone back for a lan, especially when lots of them have stopped playing

Bleeds slot was completely separate from ascension.
It seems more like riot choose boom because they were a good org. If this is true than riot cares more about the org itself than the team, yes the team is good but they still lost giving the other orgs/teams another chance is just a better option

The way you're speaking it's like every single boom match was a fluke. They were the only people to take a map of SPG. All the "smaller orgs" that you are talking about couldn't get a map of SPG. I could care less about what org gets into ascension, but don't diminish what the Boom players have done.

I’m not discrediting booms wins during the tournament it’s just they didn’t win ascension.

Ascension is about getting into Vct after WINNING ascension boom haven’t done that yet. It doesn’t matter how well they played they haven’t won.

Holding another tournament for a team to take bleeds spot would just be better than handing it to the team that didn’t win the tournament.
We know riot were already looking into bleed, so then that just means spgs win in the grand finals didn’t matter. Becuase they probably would have gotten in anyway.

At that point why don’t you just get rid of ascension and just choose random orgs to get teams in vct.

Esports is about winning these tournaments annd winning prizes and just handing away one of those prizes to a team that didn’t win just doesn’t feel right.

Most of those teams have already lost a few players

even if they didnt riot isnt going to fly everyone back, get casters, setup an arena for lan, just to have boom win again

BOOM didnt win ascension, they are going to be in the leauge for one year not two, there is also nothing special about bleeds spot, riot gave it to them, they didnt own it, and they broke rules, theres no reason why riot cant pick wtv org they want to

they arent going to pick another broke shady org when boom has done everything possible to deserve tier 1, without question

Did you know if next year the 2 ascension team cannot going to playoff, then the next slot ascension will get 3 slot. So its same case with Pacific ascension who the winner and runner up both got the slot.

Based on your argument "Ascension is about getting into Vct after WINNING ascension" the next runner up even the third place can easily going to VCT League without winning Ascension

Imagine if riot using your logic, then next ascension should be held 3 times lol

I hate to tell you this but there is plenty of tournaments where not only the first place has winnings? Bleeds disqualification only meant that the prize now goes to first and second in ascension, as the first and second best teams are the oines supposed to be ascending... Boom proved that they are better than every team besides SPG at ascension.

Your argument that other teams got close to beating SPG is pointless, because SPG qualified from upper bracket. Boom beat DSG, Boom beat Riddle, Boom beat Full Sense...
They only ever lost to SPG, and the only teams they did not beat were teams that were pretty much immediately eliminated. You cant make any argument for another team potentially being better than Boom when they beat all of those other teams. If you run another tournament now you have a bunch of unprepared and incomplete Teams scrambling to win that will tell you nothing about the teams actual potential.

Yeah second, spg still won, holding another tournament would give every team in the top 8 another chance to get the slot, yes boom would probably win but then they actually proved they deserved a second chance.
If spg had lost, whose to say, they are given the slot? It feels like riot just wanted boom in vct even though they shouldn’t have.
I’m not discrediting their 2nd place finish it just feels wrong that boom were given it so quickly.

if you think boom didnt deserve that slot i think you need to read this:
BOOM has been investing in valorant since 2020 and never leave the scene. they always qualified in sea/apac. they qual to champs 2022. they fight for ascension for 2 years with good result(2th and 4th). boom as organization put a lot effort, time, money into this game. if there is only 1 organization that deserve franchising, the only answer is BOOM

Hypothetically, say g2 were dropped from vct for some contract breach or something, and m80 were just given the slot.
Is that fair? No it’s not because no other team was given the chance to play for the second slot.
Were m80/boom the best team in their ascension? No not at all, so why would you give them the slot for no other reason than they were second?
It’s just unfair to the smaller orgs.

Bro Riot already has plan for 12 teams. 1 teams messed it up. they have to look for a replacement team because of that. who do you think is the best replacement for it if you dont want to give the spot for 2nd best team? 3rd best team? 10th best team? if you give the spot for 3rd best team before 2nd it means you are moron

It can be argued that BME got what they shouldn't have gotten, but at least they didn't take SPG's place. SPG got what they deserved.

There's a huge difference between the two.

In The Guard's case, they already had a roster locked. That roster won Ascension, and deserved to play in tier 1, no matter which banner they were flying.

In BLEED's case, they don't have a roster. They have 2 players and a coach. If they were picked up by a new org, that org would be able to put in 3 players of their own, which is the majority of the roster out of their own pockets.

I think main reason for choosing boom is because of there ranking in both ascension and the fact that boom are rich.
Riot clearly mentioned if a team get relegate, they will prioritize a t2 team.
Boom is the best option,
In case of the Guard, it was different. The guard wasn't really replacing another team.

The issue with that is M80 woulda been promoted instead of the winners. Here the winners got what they deserved + we lost a bottom feeder team who were bad partners + we gained a team that is probably significantly better than BLD. Best case scenario imo

the M80 hypothesis meant the actual #1 ascension team wouldn't get in the league even though they won. This time, they approved both #1 and #2 because another team already in the league is banned.
2 different situations and outcomes, in this case I think it was a pretty fair decision from riot. The only misfortunate thing is now former bleed staff and players losing their jobs and I don't think Bleed will take any responsibility. 😓
