by someone at the start of wano*
also I know skypiea gets important now but I watched it a year ago, it shouldnt take fucking 800 episodes for an arc to become important especially when other than enel it sucks ass
i hated genuinely every character in fishmen island, i only got excited to see jinbe back and thats it
skypiea was just bad made me stop watching for a month and I kept thinking one piece was not for me until I got to Water 7/Enies Lobby
I can see the arguement for dressrosa, but the law backstory episodes are my favourite episodes in the whole show and doffy is a fantastic villain
having to watch skypiea after that goated arc made me quit one piece
i remember them fighting with a guy who just blows bubbles for 5-6 episodes... and he wasnt even an important guy iirc its just so shit man. every arc before skypiea was actually good but then something just got to me and i dropped
The bottom of this list hurts me to read, but thats besides the point. I think Skypiea was amazing. I think people who watched the anime may have had a worse experience than I did, because for me the arc was just really fun and had a lot of interesting world building. Fishman Island has the worst fights in the series which means whenever I reread fishman island I skip them, which makes it not as bad as I remember.
Also It's not just you, but I hate when people split arcs like water 7 and enies lobby apart. They are one arc, and enies lobby just doesn't even stand on it's own without water 7.
it maybe was because I watched it instead of read it but I also just didnt care about the flashback in that arc and thats what everyone says is the best part of the arc
im more for world building than fights in one piece so I need good characters and hody jones was terrible as a character so I despise that arc
I agree, I just looked up a one piece tier list maker and they were seperate, thats why I put them together at the top as the best arcs in the show
The backstory of luffy, sabo, and ace was okay but it dragged on way too long and we didn’t get to see as much of Luffy’s training as I hoped
Post-Enies lobby had some fun reveals but it didn’t have any stakes that I was interested in. Was just a sendoff to the next place
Edit: nvm i misremembered when blackbeard vs ace was
Fishman Island gets hella hate.
Like it’s not the best arc action-wise but thematically and lore-wise, it’s fantastic. The political ideologies and imagery were far more interesting than Luffy fighting Hordy. Plus, it’s yet another arc where Luffy nearly died but was symbolism behind his relationship with the other characters was fantastic.
