eu has 4 slots
apac has 4 slots
south and north america have to share 4 slots

...and china gets a whole 4 slots?

besides the fact they aren't good, which i don'treally care about, why do chinese teams have the luxury to not have to compete with the rest of apac, asian and pacific teams will make up half of champions whilst north and south america have to share 4 slots and we won't be seeing any african teams

Answer is very obvious, for tentatively equal representation of people. Population of South and north america combined is around 430 mil+579 mil = 1.009 billion and on the other hand the population of china is 1.425 billion.

Idk why ppl make arguments like this. Why is it most games want to reach China market cause there's billions of ppl there. No matter what a company acts for profit.

China is the only country that has Western amenities while maintaining strict cultural rules. Everyone will bend over backwards to appease whatever China wants. If that means they get their own closed region and custom game build with a greater say over how it's run, Riot will do it. In the short term, it's bad for the players and the sport. But in the long run, the players will get good, and China will trust Riot and let them run more games and stuff. It would be a lot harder to do later into the sport.

There are several reasons as to why RIOT would invest so much into China as to give them their own region and 4 Champs slots.

Playerbase: Large population = large playerbase = lots of money = more company funding

Infrastructure: China has the technology to support VCT level events at the highest level (best production)

Culture: Esports culture is very popular and being an Esports player is a very viable job. This compliments the fact that there are large companies that can gain sponsors and reputation/public interest from creating esport teams and competing in various games.

I'm sure there are more reasons but these are the main ones I could think of.

Cause in china Valorant released late ( offically for everyone in china it was July 12, 2023 so basically only one year they got to play if china would have been grouped along with other region any of them, it puts them at a huge disadvantage considering other regions have been playing it for 4 years but china only 1 year, also Chinese people mostly don't know English and only Chinese thus it would further cause like which language should the official broadcast be in , chinese or English,

same thing was said about APAC like 3 years ago now look where we are now lol. give them another year and they're prob on par with rset of the world

China esports scene has crazy potential and is already a booming market. The amount of chinese orgs willing to invest in valorant far outweighs any region ( except sk iirc). Putting CN in apac is a disgrace to other apac countries

I don't know why no one's said this yet, but every region gets the same number of slots because that's just fair. They all work the same way, have the same number of teams, and use the same format. So there's no reason at all to have them each send a different number of teams.

Its actually the opposite way around lmao APAC is lucky that China wasn't merged into their region because when rito made franchising they were looking for the most popular/rich organizations that could participate in that region. Now comparing the APAC orgs to the Chinese orgs which one has more money? Easy answer, Chinese ones. So if China was forced to be in the APAC region then it would be like the Americas situation where there's going to be more Chinese orgs than any other subregion org (except for possibly T1 in terms of hard cash).
