Isn’t this what peak valorant should look like? If we trained an AI to be the best in valorant, would it make flashy Oxy plays with a 25% chance of winning? No, it would be smart and cautious.

Like it or not, I think G2 realizes it doesn’t have a superstar, and are pulling off a completely unbeatable playstyle.

I think to be considered a super team you have to have many "superstars" or big name players. For example, in the NBA the Nuggets who won the championship weren't considered a super team but the Warriors from 2016-2019 were considered a super team because they had big flashy players.

I think their playstyle just doesn’t suit some viewers. If you’re used to watching hype w gaming PRX or FPX, watching a more calculated team with a highly structured mid round could be new and as we know it the human species is known for avoiding change and new things.

geng and sen sometimes make flashy plays and it sometimes wins them rounds. you know who else does? g2!!!

for example that one execute in abyss against 100t, that was certainly flashy. but people still call them boring

most people here just want everyone to play like prx or edg and get surprised when they bomb out to players with 10x more discipline and structure

Question is what do you do when you face a team with only slightly worse macro but with 3 superstars. Lets just say GenG. We probably will see it in champions.

Using your ai metaphor. An average chess player will absolutely beat the best ai in the world provided the average chess player have a +10 points advantage. Sure GenG or TH or FNC don't have what is an equivalent of +10 points advantage in chess. But its not like they are playing fundamentally bad valorant.

This is a great point, but I only slightly agree. Superstars are damaging not because they get more kills but because they demoralize the opponents. Assuming G2 can maintain composure, they will beat the superstar team 7 times out of 10.

Why? Because better macro means having 3 players attacking a 2 defender site. Superstars cannot consistently beat this. It’s just a numbers game.

Objectively G2 is much more "boring" to watch than a team like PRX.

But honestly if you like to watch the mini-map, and understand how the game works, you can definitely enjoy watching them.

calling it peak is stretching it a bit far, the closest thing to peak valorant playstyle is geng, they got the read in the game, can adapt to any playstyle, almost everyone but lakia is an exceptional shooter(his util is fine also good for a few clutches and pistols here and there but bro decision is weird af sometime) if he stel up his game or they replace him with better player i think geng will be peak

Even if G2 had demon1 or a star player, they would still be more on the boring spectrum simply because Valyns igling is not the most engaging. But if you care about the macros and stuff then he is really cool to watch

I thought they were boring in stage 1, and tbf it was that passive and slow playstyle that got them counterstratted so hard by 100T and Heretics.

In playoffs now though they look a lot more proactive and scrappy which is more entertaining, especially since they can be trusted not to throw fights (unlike KRÜ and PRX)
