Oscar "Mixwell" Cañellas announced his retirement from professional play earlier today.
A veteran within the FPS scene, Mixwell's esports career dates all the way back to 2012, where he began building his reputation in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive as an AWPer. The then-prodigy quickly climbed into the upper echelons of the competitive scene and donned the jersey of many prominent organizations.
After a fruitful nine years among the best of the best, Mixwell transitioned over to Valorant and signed with G2 Esports G2 Esports Inactive as the scene slowly began to solidify itself. Mixwell and the rest of G2 took the EMEA scene by storm as they won event after event in 2020. Although they were unable to match the previous year's results, the roster kept up with the rest of the top teams in 2021.

Mixwell's first appearance at an international event was at Masters: Berlin, where he and his teammates finished among the top four after a loss to Gambit Esports Gambit Esports Inactive Redgar Igor Vlasov Chronicle Timofey Khromov d3ffo Nikita Sudakov sheydos Bogdan Naumov nAts Ayaz Akhmetshin , the eventual winners of the tournament. Although he and his team were unable to qualify for that year's Champions, Mixwell would return to the international stage during 2022's Masters: Reykjavik as EMEA's best seed while securing a top six finish.

The team was unable to break through the group stage and finished eighth in the league, relegating them to the EMEA LCQ ahead of Champions. In a Twitch stream, Mixwell addressed his retirement, and expressed his sentiment as he closed the chapter of competing and moved onto new opportunities.
