According to a report by Dot Esports, the entirety of the former XSET XSET Inactive squad – barring Brendan "BcJ" Jensen – that attended 2022's Champions have filed separate cases against the organization over owed revenue from that year's Champions bundle.
Zachary "zekken" Patrone, Matthew "Cryocells" Panganiban, Jordan "AYRIN" He, Rory "dephh" Jackson, and Don "SyykoNT" Muir — who all attended and placed among the top six at last year's Champions with XSET — have filed separate cases with the Los Angeles County Superior Court of California against their former organization.
The claims allege that XSET has gone back on its promise to pay out an agreed 50 percent of merchandising revenue, in which the Champions 2022 bundle revenue is included, something that was detailed in the agreement between the players and the organization. It states that each player/coach would receive “8.33% of all skin revenue sales.” The agreed amount adds up to nearly 50 percent after factoring in BcJ, who has at the moment not publicly filed a case against XSET.
The court documents also mention that XSET allegedly ignored a letter requesting “good faith negotiations” sent to the organization back in April of this year, prompting the plaintiffs to file their claims on August 16, 2023.
The Champions 2022 bundle raised over $16 million in revenue, half of which was split throughout the 16 teams that attended the major. It is unlikely that public announcements will be made regarding the situation due to “no disparagement” clauses in the plaintiffs' former contracts.
