rn we can imagine a really good team with guild core
Leo
Sayf
trexx
kolda (if he igls good it's ok)
any sentinel
wdyt?
they did very good for their situation in 2022:
missed reykjavik 2022 (lost to M3C and TL) (wasnt the best but was top 6 emea (when emea was crazy dominant region)
attended copenhagen and got 7th (were probably the 3rd or 4th best of the tournament. 2-0'd Optic, 2-1'd KRU, 0-2 PRX, 1-2 FPX) (they only lost to the finalists FPX and PRX😱😱😱)
They had a sub in lcq (yacine) so unlucky situation for them to get to champions. they were going to have twisten in lcq and scrimmed with him for 2ish weeks until Riot told Guild that they didnt allow Twisten to play with guild since Twisten was in BIG a day or 2 before lcq. Then they had to find emergency sub of Yacine.........
iirc.
Guild was going to have twisten for the LCQ, but riot/big prevented the move last minute.
They had been scrimming with twisten for the event aswell.
hence yacine coming in, he didnt perform well because he hadnt played.
the team then lost lcq.

guild had a HUGE agent pool. sayf has played skye and other initiators, cypher, kj, chamber, jett, raze, neon (idk about this one). trexx has played some sova, cypher, kj, raze, kayo and he can op. leo mastered every initiator and pops off on sage. that many agents played at a really high level made them very flexible as a trio. i wish them three at least stayed together...
trexx wasn't very good on the op tho, he failed really hard during their first run at qualifying to Reykjavik when he was put on chamber, and sayf was just okay on the other sentinels besides chamber. trexx was pretty flexible, and sayf was really good on the duelist/chamber role, and obvi we all know that Leo can play any initiator the best rn. kolda was just a shit IGL honestly, whenever you watched a Guild game he would run the clock down to the last 10 seconds without taking a single bit of space, and then just mass up and entry on sites, with no info whatsoever most of the game. it was pretty much the individual skill of leo, trexx and sayf that got that team to events, just like with Koi's run at LCQ with sheydos, trexx and starxo.
i disagree about the trexx op bit. when put on jett a couple of times, he was really good although i definitely agree that sayf op is much better than trexx. but yeah koldamenta has a very predictable way of igling but he is able to bring out the best in his players no matter how badly they are losing.
trexx op was ok on jett, but he's nowhere near as good as sayf on either jett or chamber tho so it doesn't make much sense, and sayf has always been kinda mid on the sentinel roles besides chamber. i mean, it's tough to say that when kolda has never had pretty much any success as an IGL to a large degree. G2 got 13-0'ed by Gambit after beating a dying Sentinels, Guild got one win over Optic in groups and then got shit on by PRX and FPX, and then Koi has done literally nothing of note. Like, he's not an awful IGL, but for the quality of players he has had under his lead he clearly is just not good enough.
Idk what koldamenta does to igl honestly, but it seemed to work since he took 3 completely different rosters very far. Did he get lucky three times in a row with really good players that carried him? A lot of EU pros have praised koldamentas igling but everyone on vlr hates him. I'm not sure what to believe about him...
again with the quality of his players, he probably should have a trophy by now! like he had leo, trexx and sayf, how do you not have three of the best EMEA players this year and not at least get a pedestal finish. now he's got sheydos, trexx, and starxo - two trophy holders and his best player last year. if he was a good IGL they wouldn't have gone 1-8 during the regular season. they even lost to KCorp bro. I'm sorry, it's just silly.
